This message made us SO happy! This is the heart of what we do: We choose old, small homes at risk of being leveled and lovingly restore them to new glory for new families to enjoy. Both of our homes in Sandbridge are some of the original homes here; was built in the 1950’s by Ryan’s great uncle, and the Surf Shack was completed in the early ‘60’s. We bought it from the builder’s daughters. We take this job so seriously, and we are always hopeful the families will feel we’ve honored them in our process. We were so grateful for these kind words.

After a full family move-in effort last Saturday, we are (finally) starting to put the finishing touches touches on the surf shack #! 🙌🏼

Surf shack kitchen update! We’ll be adding the vintage banquette we’ve been hanging onto and a custom table, and I’m hunting for a little island for cooking prep. We’re getting excited! Swipe for the before.

Our latest labor of love, Sanctuary by the Surf (named for its easy walk to the beach and front-porch view of the Atlantic) is getting so close to being ready! Swipe to see the before of one of our two king bedrooms. We’ve got flooring going in in the last room this week, and we will be staging next month. Booking for the summer will be available as soon as we can get it listed! We can’t wait to share more.

Progress! Happening this week: kitchen backsplash, appliance installation, front porch completion, and leveling and installation of floors in the back two bedrooms. It’s coming. 🙌🏼

It’s about that time…that I start experiencing decision fatigue 😅. Trim and interior doors are being painted this week (SW Shiitake). Our first time with non-white trim and I looove it! Interior walls and exterior paint coming up quick (as soon as I make up my mind). is applying the pressure, so it will be soon!

Saturdays are Take Your Child to Work days! Our oldest helped me prep today to lighten the load on our wonderful cleaner, and then she got involved putting up the fence down the street at the Surf Shack! Full disclosure: working with the kids isn’t often easier, and doesn’t always feel like help. But today it did, and we know they are learning valuable skills. We’re so grateful for our family business, and for the beach time mixed in!

Even though we don’t have walls yet (though framing just started!), we were so excited to snag this today! We wandered into hoping to find an old surfboard but came out with this original watercolor of a Sandbridge sunrise by local artist Dean Roberts instead!

Starting a major renovation project during Covid is an odd thing. The best-laid plans can be waylaid by material shortages or contractor availability. So, while it probably seems out of sequence to put in a pool when we literally don’t have walls in the house, our pool supplier has availability now, so we jumped at the chance. 🤷🏼‍♀️
