Wonderful weekend at SixRS with Best of America by Horseback! Riding weather was fantastic, fun pie baking contest, great band Friday night and Dell Sheilds entertaining the group Saturday night.

Dorris Ann’s famous homemade cinnamon rolls, served with coffee and sausage biscuits for breakfast each morning! Fresh grilled hamburgers, BBQ brisket, home made peach cobbler rounded out Friday and Saturday night dinnner!

The grass was green and lush from the spring rains. A wonderful time was had by all. Many thanks to the BOABH crew for a safe and enjoyable ride and gathering.

We have space available for the Labor Day weekend ; temperatures should be in the low 90s for the high. There are several water crossings and shady trails to make fora nice ride.

Making another cutting of hay. The barns are full , but what the heck , “ make hay while the sun shines.”
This is what I call horse quality hay.... 30 days old, 325 # of 20-0-20 to the acre and almost 8 inches of rain starting the day we fertilized . Does not get any better than that !!!!
Would have loved to make some square bales, but the labor , for us, prohibits that .... been there done that in my younger days .

We have openings for riding and camping in August and September. If you don’t ride, bring your kayak and fishing pole and enjoy Lake Elverda or bring your hiking boots to enjoy the abundant wildlife.

Buffalo creek finally went down a couple of weeks ago so we could cross the cattle to the working pens and get the calves processed .
This has been a heck of a year .

Going to make a lot of hay on SIX RS RANCH. The April and May rain was too much, but now we have a great hay crop.

The East Texas Mounted Search and Rescue came to Six RS Ranch on Saturday, June 15th for a practice. Cal came on Friday to place some clues. Everyone else showed up by 8am for orientation and then left out by 9am to search for 2 “lost people ... an older man and a younger boy”.
The trailer is their radio communication set-up .
This is a really interesting and dedicated group of volunteers who provide a special service when needed.
We were pleased to have them here at Six RS RANCH.

The water is still up on Buffalo Creek , but the shady trails in the hills are pretty dry. It is possible to ride about half of the ride area of Six RS Ranch . Had 4 ladies come on Wednesday and will leave on Saturday. They have been able to get in several rides by dodging the intermittent rain. So I guess we are open for riding.
It was supposed to rain all day today and that didn’t happen ... had several hours of sunshine. Looks like next week will be clear.

Please use our cell : 9033880439 . This is the fastest way to get in touch .

This levee helps keep Buffalo Creek from flooding one of the low lying pastures ... until
this last round of rain and flooding . It has been there for close to 40 years with few problems. Just one example of how much damage all this rain caused . It has to dry up and then we will figure out how to fix it .
You sure don’t get bored in this business !!!
