In 1990, Pilot Derek White was at the Walla Walla Valley, which was filled with the sights and sounds of hot air balloons, creating a magical experience. He started as a crew member, received a Student Pilot Certificate at 14, and joined the BFA Junior Balloonists - and that's how the journey began. Now, as an Active Duty member of the United States Air Force for 19 years and Chief Pilot of the Nemesis Balloon Team, he flies the Utah skies with his family, sharing their love for ballooning and the magic that inspired him as a child.
