Happy New Year Many of you were asking on your last trip about the striper regulations. Hopefully by now you have heard they will remain the same for 2025 . There were serious discussions about a Maratorium on Striper fishing, However due to the efforts of many and comments submitted via email there will be no changes for 2025.

We are booking Tuna ,Sea Bass (opens May 15th)and Striper trips now feel free to reach out and get your dates on the schedule. Our Fall season always fills up first.

If you didnt get out with us in 2024 you will be pleased with the Seakeeper we had installed by Ocean Gate Marina in June. Everyone that experienced it last year said it is a "game changer" comfort wise and I would have to agree!
Come Check it out .

With the heading: Striped bass 2025 regulations

Below is Capt Bob’s comment about the possible Striped Bass closure. It takes just a few minutes to send a quick email!

From Capt Robert Bogan, Rep for United Boatmen NJ and owner party fishing boat Gambler, Pt Pleasant B*h NJ

I can understand the states South of NJ and NY frustration with a lack of striped bass in their waters.

But this is not a striped bass population problem. Like so many other species, striped bass have been migrating further North. The way things are trending, it could be that, in 10 years, the striped bass biomass will be out of the NY bight and mostly in New England waters. This is not a population problem, this is a climate change issue and an issue with Chesapeake Bay pollution. And those Southern states commercial fishery.

NJ and NY do not need to be punished due to the fact that the greater part of the striped bass now winters there.

In the early/mid 90s, when the striper limit for our state was two fish 28", the population exploded within a few years. Now, with stripers, as with other regulated species, when the fishing gets good due to a healthy population, fishermen are expected to take a bigger cut.

Leave regulations in place --or better-- go back to 2 stripers at 28"

Ocean Gate Yacht Basin is moving along on schedule. There has been a lot of work done in a small area. Starting to look like the perfect location for the Seakeeper . I am very happy with the quality of work and their ability to stay on schedule. Planning to set the unit in place Monday .

I have some exciting news to share. Last year Seakeeper came out with a new 4.5 Unit in a smaller overall package making it possible to refit our 38’ Henriques with it, in a location that works for me. The earlier models were just a little too big to fit it where I wanted. We are in the process of installing a Seakeeper 4.5 in the Obsession!
For those of you that don’t know, A Seakeeper is a marine motion control unit that uses gyroscope technology to reduce a boat's pitch and roll by up to 95%. It will improve your boating experience in all sea conditions, both while at rest and underway. Once you experience one you will quickly realize it’s a game changer! This is an extensive upgrade; I keep saying "at this point in my life I don’t get excited about much, however I am excited to get this up and running!" I was looking at bigger boats and other avenues to improve comfort, after considering all my options this is the most cost-effective way to go. “It’s all about comfort”.
The first step was to contact Michael Santoro at Seakeeper to discuss the sizing and costs. He is very knowledgeable and got me going in the right direction immediately also getting us into the Pro Program.
I also need to thank John Lane, Rich Kosztyu, Brian Shortino, Dan Smith and John Zema for openly sharing information and experiences with their installations. That along with making their boats and time available to me was extremely helpful in making this decision. This was very much appreciated.
The unit is being installed by Ocean Gate Yacht Basin; they are a Seakeeper Certified Dealer / Installer which is essential to the Pro Program. We are early in the process, however, I feel like I am in good hands there, very good communication and Dan Mease has been great to deal with. I will keep you posted along the way.
Here is a video that shows how it works.

We should be done in late June, and we have availability.
The Viking I was running has been sold which frees my schedule up considerably. Come and check out the Seakeeper experience this year.
Look forward to seeing you onboard.
