I’m thinking of all the wonderful people I get to have in my life because of this farm. I am thankful for YOU!

Spending a lot of time lately, and especially today, missing my mom. This is my first Thanksgiving without her and I’m having a lot of emotions.

I find myself here in the high tunnel, planting leftover garlic bulbs for green garlic come spring, and this is something my mom would have LOVED to be participating in today. I got to spend a lot of time with her in the garden and on the farm. We had a lot of good times playing in the dirt, observing the animals, and wandering in the woods.

I wish you all a happy thanksgiving with your loved ones and happy memories of those you’ve lost.

Drizzly day at the farm. Good day to muck out the barn and clean out the barnyard. The alpacas came back from the pasture to 2 new round bales and deep bedding all around in the barn. Hygge night at the alpaca farm!

Oh and I had a shadow! Mozzarella was very keen to be in the movie and insisted on a close up. ☺️

Stew Hens Retired laying hens from our flock. These chickens were raised on certified organic feed, rotated on pasture, and fed garden and microgreen scraps. I’m moving the chickens for the final time this year.

At the end of the month we will be processing all of our layers into frozen stew hens. This is the second year we are not holding layers over the winter. We have found the predator pressure decreased greatly, as the bobcats and foxes move on to find more reliable food sources, and we get a much needed break from chicken chores for three months in the winter.

Frozen Stew Hens, raised on pasture, fed organically, will be available at the end of the month in our online and in-person farm store.

Thank you Top Knot Shearing crew for the quick stop at the farm this morning. I love having the extra help to get teeth, toenails, and worming done on the herd this time of year. See you in the spring!

Does your porch pot need an update for Fall? We still have some mums and flowering cabbages and kales, herbs and grasses . The colors on the flowering cabbage/kale are intensifying and really starting to look so pretty. Do take some home!

Fall is here. Fresh Bulk Microgreens are just now stocked (we restock micros every Tuesday afternoon!). Eggs, tomatoes, and seasonal ornamental plants for your porch pots….

We just completed the Sketch the Alpacas event with local artist Dana M Johnson. The weather was sweet, the alpacas were cooperative models and enjoyable companions, and Dana got us all sketching and seeing with our artist eyes. “Art is for everyone,” she says. Dana always has a sketch pad and some pencils or pens with her to make a quick drawing, and encourages orders to do so, too.

I am really enjoying the mental space I’m in after spending some chill time with the animals and Dana’s coaching to got me working my neglected artist muscles.

Thank you to everyone who showed up. It was a lovely thing to do together this afternoon.
