Hundreds of Trump supporters, having successfully beaten multiple police lines already, press the attack on police officers stationed inside the inauguration tunnel on the West side of the building. They pay no attention to police orders to back up. The pressure of the mob’s mass is beginning to crush the law enforcement officers—a fact not lost on the attackers, who will soon ratchet that pressure up. More in next video.

Members of Congress evacuate from the House chamber through the Speaker’s Lobby. A makeshift barricade is thrown together at the glass-paned entrance. Police in front of and behind the doors. Ashli Babbitt is present with the furious and violent mob, which is beating the doors down with bare hands and screaming at the Congresspeople.
In just moments, a tactical unit arrives and the officers in front of the doors move aside momentarily. The attackers continue breaking the windows and glass doors. Ashli climbs up through a broken pane to go in. A security officer behind the barricade aims his gun at the window. People yell out to warn about the gun. She goes anyway. He fires at her. She dies from the gunshot. The tactical unit clears space to administer first aid and paramedics move her. The mob does not advance further. Representatives’ lives are saved.

The mob had defeated several police lines before reaching this tunnel in the center of the West side of the building—the one used by presidents-elect to walk out and be sworn in on Inauguration Day. Police formed up to prevent the attackers from entering the Capitol through the doors inside.
Sustained assaults on this position would continue for a couple hours until reinforcements arrived.

P.S. There is no magic number of rally attendance or boat parades or bellwether counties or even votes that makes you the winner. If your opponent gets more votes in enough states and has 270 *electors*, that’s it.

Jacob Chansley of Arizona talks to a person with a phone just after breaking into the Capitol with a violent mob, shouting some stuff from the Senate dais, and exiting the building without being immediately arrested. Harry Dunn was there on #January6th. Trump’s mob attacked him and any other police officer preventing them from entering the Capitol. They attempted to do it by force, and in so doing broke our 220-year streak of peaceful transitions.

Having an easy time thinking of groups who suffered injustices for decades or more—who didn’t even do an insurrection.
I guess he believes there is a large constituency who will vote for him if he says he will do this? But the question is follow through; remember he also said he would testify at his trial and that was… a lie.
