Ebony Pyramid Entertainment was founded in 1999 in Washington, DC by a veteran entertainer and businessman, DaJuan Patrick Xavier. Ebony Pyramid Entertainment (EPE) was initially established as a subsidiary of Xavier’s mainstream 35-year-old incorporated entertainment production company. EPE was formed to primarily serve the African-American and minority Le***an, Gay, Bi-Sexual, and Transgender (L
GBT) community’s entertainment and travel needs on a more mature and sophisticated level. In its first year, EPE launched its signature event, “The Black Gay and Le***an Pride: Caribbean Cruisin’ – Bahamas.” The vision of the event was to create a social and networking venue, similar to the Prides held in major cities, but in a cruise format. Although the description of the event stated “Black” and “LGBT” it was not exclusive to only those groups, but to everyone who wanted to join and celebrate Pride. Many guests brought their family members, friends, and children to the cruise event. By the fourth year of the cruise event, EPE hosted just over 500 guests. As the pioneer of the Black LGBT cruise group, EPE takes pride knowing it began a phenomenon that has launched others. In 2012, EPE reorganized and the Caribbean Cruisin event was replaced by the “EPE Travel Series” to expand travel and destination possibilities, other than cruise. This includes land-based events in foreign countries, non-contiguous USA, and the always popular cruise. These events included Pride Cruisin’, Pride Ski, and the Pride Elite Travel Club. In addition to premiere travel and a world-class staff, another strength of the EPE events has been its quality productions and first-class entertainers. EPE has had the privilege to have some of the top African-American LGBT performers, from across the country, as well as celebrity appearances and performances. Throughout the years, EPE has produced and sponsored other events such as pageants, talent showcases, traveling Pride receptions, and Bayou Fest 2005 – New Orleans, Louisiana. EPE had the honor to host Bayou Fest, months prior to the tragic and unforgettable levee breaks. EPE has also supported and sponsored various Black Pride events in DC, New York, Philadelphia, Houston, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Memphis, Dallas, and Chicago. EPE has hosted and sponsored many charitable activities and philanthropic efforts with deserving LGBTQ youth programs, HIV/AIDS programs, female health, other minority health and wellness, and other LGBT outreach and support programs. Currently, EPE hosts an event in its headquarters city of Washington, DC titled, Tuesdays Connections, that provides an opportunity for the minority LGBTQ community to socialize, network, raise funds for local LGBT and affiliate charities, and to provide awareness of activities and resources available to the community. To date, EPE has helped raise about $500,000 for its LGBT communities and other worth-while causes. Because of it charitable activities, EPE has created the Ebony Pyramid Foundation. The Foundation will serve as a national repository for charities and organizations providing resources to the minority and in-need LGBT community and allies. The Foundation will also provide funding for the development of new organizations, as well as provide education, outreach, and recognition of deserving individuals. We are Ebony Pyramid Entertainment, “Where You’re The Main Attraction!”
