Veteran documentarian Eduardo Montes-Bradley is working on completing a new documentary titled “Daniel Chester French” about the sculptor of Lincoln (and others). The documentary is to be completed in time for the May 30, 2022 celebration of the Lincoln Memorial’s centennial. French’s masterpiece will be rededicated during that Memorial Day event.

The film will be distributed by Kanopy, an on-demand streaming service aimed at public and academic libraries, but also available to the general public with a library card or university ID. A 10-minute version is being produced for the Chesterwood website, likely by the end of the year, and the completed film will be entered into film festivals and then surface on YouTube later in 2022.

As part of our regulatory duties, we certify every payphone in the District. That used to be quite the task, but now in 2021 just six payphones are active in the entire city. One of the (and the only one remining downtown) is at is 1432 H St, NW. This payphone has a traditional pedestal and is in overall great shape! While technically active, this phone is pending removal so if you’d like to place a call, the time is now.
