I'm planning on a couple of Cleveland Vagabonds walks and a couple with Buffalo

06/23/2020

August 8th in Medina Ohio sounds like a good place to start this year's season. I have a new walker lined up, too.

05/22/2020

A tough 2020 so far, but I am going to start walking a bit so I can handle10k walks later this season. NW Pa is to get a sneak peek of summer Memorial Day week !

04/09/2020

CORVID-19 has slowed down the start of the Volksmarch Season, but I will be ready when the walk box facilities are open!

02/17/2020

It's time to get out again. Anyone up for a walk in Conneaut can send a message. Markko's is the check in, and the walk is s in town. A good season start!

Fifty's this weekend. Time to walk!

04/05/2019

The First two weeks in May have volksmarches in the Cleveland Area. The first is the Annual Business Meeting. More to follow!

04/02/2019

April is the month to start walking in preparation of the big walks coming up beginning in May!

02/24/2019

February finally on the way out. Looking toward a walk or two in March. Considering closer walks but will see where there is a little sunshine. I'd definitely like to go over to Cleveland's Lakeview Cemetery in April, and would welcome company.

02/01/2019

I am hoping for a couple of warmer weekends for inter volksmarches at Markko Vineyard and Niagara Falls.

01/07/2019

After walk action was as usual, performed at restaurants! Several went to the former Tilted Kilt, four to the Tower City Food Court, and a couple went to Jack's casino for the buffet. It was a terrific day for a walk and best of all, I got gasoline for $1.78 per gallon at the North Kingsville exit on the way home!

The Cleveland Vagabonds Polar Bear Volksmarch This Saturday is Scheduled for 10:00 AM. I generally am a little late and hope to catch up with other walkers on what promises to be a beautiful day considering the date!

12/29/2018

I'm looking forward to a great new Volksmarching year. I expect to have one new person from Erie County, and invite anyone from here to follow the available walks that will be posted. The season kickoff will be January 5th at 10:00 AM and starts at the Marriott Renaissance Hotel in Tower City, Downtown Cleveland. I'm hoping to work in the Conneaut, Ohio walk starting at Markko Vineyards just outside of town. Arnie Esterer is a great host!

10/28/2018

Heading to the Chauttauqua Institute to volksmarch with the Niagara Falls Club the weekend of November 13th. Will verify time and date, soon.

09/07/2018

The Cleveland Valley Vagabond Volksmarch Club Picnic for Sunday, September 9th, 2018 is cancelled due to Tropical Storm Gordon.

08/28/2018

I know there is a traditional final day at The Chautauqua Institute in November, but I'm thinking about putting a walk the last week in September or maybe Columbus Day Weekend in October while the weather is typically a little nicer. I'll put the word out in other ways as well to see if there is enough interest in this... I'd prefer starting around 11:00, going to the store after the walk, and maybe over to either the Peak, French Creek, or even the Ellicottville Brewing Company in Ellicottville after the volksmarch.

08/19/2018

The Cleveland Valey Vagabonds will have its annual picnic at Markko Vineyard on September 9th with a Downtown Walk to follow.

08/02/2018

August 4th will be in Cleveland on the West Side of town. As always, check out AVA.ORG, to find the Cleveland Vagabonds Club site!

Deva Simon's After Welling Walk Report and upcoming group walk on the 4th of July:

What a beautiful day and all walkers seem to really enjoy the Dairy Queen Checkpoint!! We had 40 walkers coming from all over. The walker from the most farway place was Annette from Virginia here with the tater tours. Our birthday girl, Beth Filina, showed up celebrating her birthday with a Vagabond walk and Richard walked also celebrating his 81st birthday. Bea, Richard and Carol held down the checkpoint at Dairy Queen. In all over 40 walkers enjoyed the Wellington walk and half had already done the Spencer walk. All signed a Wedding wish card to Henry and Donna who got married on June 14.

Our next group walk is July 4 at 10 a.m. at Einstein Brothers in Chagrin Falls. Our next event is August 4 starting at the Power House patio in the flats. To continue our great checkpoints, this one is at Mitchells Ice Cream. Parking lot rate varies last time was $6 last year was $3. There is parking in the street available. Wish for weather like this past Saturday because the start point is out in the patio with no cover.
Thanks to Carolyn for her great trail instructions, Bea Schaefer and Gundelachs for taking charge of checkpoint. Wishing everyone a great July 4th weekend. See you July 7. THANKS TO ALL THE MEMBERS WHO REJOINED SATURDAY!!

I just did manage to 5K walks on the hot day. I would have been ok going 10 at Spencer and then a five at Wellington, but thought Id try it the other way. Spencer had a wonderful 5K walk around a large area known as the J.B. Firestone Park, and then over to two small reservoirs and a Veterans' Memorial Park. A lot packed into a short walk. The Town walk was the other direction, and I'm sure it would have been just as fun. Wellington has a very entertaining downtown with restaurants, museums and a few small shops. The 5K option covered these and a very nice side street full of beautiful home. It was yard sale day there, with a fair amount of people doing a little shopping.

06/10/2018

It's sad to report that Ines Villegas, who walked around a half dozen volksmarches with me for three or four years has passed away this week. She was a high energy woman who should have had far more time left. Funeral arrangements are pending. She enjoyed going to both the clubs in Cleveland and in Niagara Falls.

06/03/2018

There are a few walks in the Buffalo area I'm hoping to do including East Aurora and Lockport. I'm still interested in a Niagara Falls walk if anyone else would like to go up one weekend.

I'd like to do both walks on June 16th with the Spencer walk first, and head to the 2nd right away. Anyone thinking about going can ask below. I'd probably leave I-90 around 7:30, maybe 8:00 a.m.
