Let’s make everyone happy this holiday season! Happy holidays from all of us! Homemade Mamma Floria’s lasagna 🤌🇮🇹🤌

Ingredients (4/6 people):

2lb fresh ground beef

1 box of Barilla lasagna noodles

½ cup of EVOO

1 fresh mozzarella

1 can of tomato sauce

1 bunch of Italian parsley

2 cloves of garlic

Milk, Butter, Flour, nutmeg (*besciamelle sauce)

Black pepper, salt, red pepper flakes at taste

1 vegetable bouillon cube

Directions:

-Finely chop parsley, garlic, EVOO in a blender and add a little of water to make it liquid.

-Add two tablespoon and extra EVOO to a saucepan. Put on the stove on high heat.

-Add ground beef, and mix everything together. When the beef is starting to browning add bouillon cube, tomato sauce and lower the heat. Partially cover the pan with a top and let it vent. Stir occasionally and let it cook it on low heat for 2 hours.

-Layer uncooked Barilla lasagna noodles in an aluminum pan, top it with sauce, besciamelle and chunks of fresh mozzarella. Repeat it for 4/5 layers. Top the lasagna with sauce and chunks of Mozzarella. Put pan in the oven and cook it at 375F for about twenty minutes. Lasagna is ready when the sauce and cheese on top start to make a brown crust. Let it cool down for about 30 minutes and enjoy!

Ingredients for *Besciamelle sauce:

5 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour
3 cups milk
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

Directions
In a medium saucepan, heat butter until melted. Add flour and stir until smooth. Over medium heat, cook until light golden brown, about 6 to 7 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat milk in separate pan until just about to boil. Add milk to butter mixture 1 cup at a time, whisking continuously until very smooth and bring to a boil. Cook 30 seconds and remove from heat. Season with salt and nutmeg and set aside.

Our fresh pressed olive oil is supposed to arriving late this year.
ETA is January 6th, 2025
Unfortunately it won’t be here in time for the holiday season.
Bad weather and customs delays were to blame. However, we will begin to ship as soon as we get it in stock and we are still getting orders.

One of the simpler and most popular dish served at the Villa -
Mirella’s Tuscan Beans, or “Fagioli alla Toscana,” are a classic Italian dish made with hearty white beans, olive oil, garlic, and fresh herbs. They can be enjoyed as a side dish, a soup, or even on their own with some crusty bread. Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Tuscan Beans:

Ingredients:

2 cups dried cannellini beans (or 2 cans of canned cannellini beans, drained and rinsed)
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
4 cloves garlic, smashed
1 sprig fresh rosemary
1 bay leaf
4 cups vegetable broth (or water)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Crusty bread for serving (optional) In a large pot, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic, and sauté until fragrant and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Add the soaked beans (or canned beans if using) along with the rosemary and bay leaf. If using dried beans, cover them with 4 cups of vegetable broth (or water), and bring to a simmer.
Cook the beans until tender, about 1 to 1.5 hours for dried beans, or until heated through if using canned beans. If needed, add more water or broth during cooking to ensure the beans stay covered.
