Sharing interesting post I saw;
Hoping public servants would work with citizens needs better to solve crime by knowing what goes on in their community.
Sheriff Ricky Adam utilized the spotcrime.com map app from 2013 to the end of 2020 when the link was disconnected. We've been trying to have the spotcrime.com map app reconnected in Bay St Louis, Diamond Head, Waveland and Hancock County for over 2 years. It's the largest provider in the world of this service,It does not mention names or exact addresses but down to the hundred block and is the largest Spatio temporal data analysis easy to use proven crime Map format in the world. Free for the county, free for the user & holds 6 months of data. Set up in a usable format showing burglary, thefts, shootings, robberies, vandalism, assaults, arsons, arrest and others . Spotcrime.com is utilized currently all over Jackson County and the city of Jackson and many other places and major universities in Mississippi recognized this tools necessity.This app is utilized in the largest city in every state and New Orleans , Washington DC , New York City , mobile..... many many other jurisdictions in between .It was a benefit to the community with community policing and transparency and needs to be relinked. This Map app. is automated and only requires a link to be established through the Sheriff's Department to work correctly. utilized all over our country. Last year after being asked by councilman Mr Reed and Josh DeSalvo to bring it to the attention at the board meeting in Bay St Louis all seem to want it turned back on in the whole County not just they St Louis then After being told by the County Administrator last year it would be reconnected. And representative Jay McKnight telling me this year the reason it wasn't reconnected because of the death of Mr Barnes the County IT guy . The little bit of information that's there in our County is provided by WLOX and WXXV and other sources. I know the sheriff is a very busy man with lots of responsibilities. If there is some reason he feels this app's necessity is not needed hoping he would please explain.With 183 burglaries in all of Hancock County last year with a clearance rate of 10%, seems like it would be helpful to the neighborhood if The Neighbors knew the house next door or down the street was broken into. Neighbors are some of the biggest deterrents and factors in solving crimes. Which causes neighborhoods to be stronger and safer and more desirable. Thank you Tim Morris
