We’re excited about the train service! Hop on and come stay with us.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO ALL THE WAY
When Amtrak service returns to the Gulf Coast, likely next Spring, two trains will be leaving Mobile each day headed to New Orleans.
Tentatively, according to reports, the first train will leave in the morning, around 6:30 a.m. and the other in the afternoon, at about 4:30.
Going out of Mobile and coming from New Orleans – where two trains will head to Mobile each day – there will be stops in four cities. The entire journey will take around 3 ½ hours.
There will be brief stops at the cities in between for passengers to get on and off.
The first stop for the Mobile train heading west will be in Pascagoula, MS. Morning arrival time there is expected to be around 7:10, with 5:10 the afternoon time.
The journey will continue on to the next stop, Biloxi, MS, with morning arrival around 7:45 and afternoon 5:45.
Then it takes off for Gulfport, MS, arriving around 8:10 in the a.m. and 6:10 p.m.
The final of the four Mississippi stops will be in Bay Saint Louis, at about 8:40 a.m. and 6:40 p.m.
Then it’s on to New Orleans, the final stop in the route, with morning arrival around 10:15 and night at 8:15.
While all that’s playing out, over in New Orleans two trains will leave out each day with Mobile as the final stop. The first train leaves at about 7:30 and the second at 5:30. Morning arrival in Mobile is anticipated to be around 11:20 with 9:15 being the night time.
A traveler will have the option of ending their journey at any stop along the way, staying in that city as long as they desire, and continuing on either west or east later that day, or another day if they choose to do so.
For example, a person could take the 6:30 a.m. train from Mobile over to Biloxi, spend a day at the casinos, and catch the 7:45 p.m. heading to Mobile out of New Orleans.
A schedule and fares will be posted on the Amtrak.com website about 90 days before service begins.
