Such an amazing natural event - Yosemite National Park will require day-use entrance reservations for the last three weekends of February 2024 to manage the Horsetail Fall event.
During February, thousands of visitors visit Horsetail Fall, a waterfall that creates the illusion that the water is on fire. The surge in visitation has led to full parking lots, parking overflowing into traffic lanes, pedestrian-vehicle conflicts causing safety issues, and damage to natural and cultural resources. In order to manage visitor activity during this event, a reservation will be required to drive into Yosemite National Park on the weekends of February 10–11, February 17–19, and February 24–25, 2024. Visitors who arrive Mondays through Fridays (except Monday, February 19) won't need a reservation. The $35/car entrance fee is valid for entry for seven days, regardless of day of arrival. A similar system has been implemented for this event the past several years.
Beginning at 8 am Pacific time on December 1, 50% of day-use reservations will be available for all three weekends at https://www.recreation.gov/timed-entry/10086745. Beginning at 8 am Pacific time two days prior to a day-use reservation date, the remaining 50% of day-use reservations will be available. For example, on February 23 at 8 am, day-use reservations for February 25 will be available.
If you have a lodging reservation for Yosemite Valley, Wawona, Foresta, or Yosemite West, you don’t need an additional entrance reservation.
Campground reservations will be required for Camp 4, Hodgdon Meadow, and Wawona Campgrounds for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays beginning February 9–February 25, 2024 (these campgrounds normally operate on a first-come, first-served basis in February). There will be a 2-night minimum reservation requirement. Reservations will be released on December 15 at 7 am Pacific time at Recreation.gov. If you have a campground reservation for Upper Pines, Camp 4, Hodgdon Meadow, or Wawona Campgrounds, you don’t need an additional entrance reservation.

Horsetail Fall can glow orange when it's backlit by sunset, which can make it appear to be on fire. This unique lighting effect happens only on evenings with a clear sky when the waterfall is flowing and when the sun is at the right angle in mid– to late February. This event attracts many visitors...

We are continuing to hope for the best for Wawona and the Mini Cabin and all of the Redwoods in Yosemite Staff.

The Washburn fire grew to 703 acres overnight and remains at 0% containment. Evacuation of the Wawona community and Wawona Campground remain in place. The Wawona Road (Highway 41) is closed at South Entrance to Henness Ridge Road. Yosemite West remains accessible via Wawona Road from the north (from Yosemite Valley).

IF YOU ARE VISITING THIS WEEKEND, please be prepared for long delays at entrance stations (up to two hours). A reservation is still required to drive into the park between 6 am and 4 pm. Additionally, expect smoky conditions and poor air quality.

Firefighters worked through the night and aerial and ground resources are continuously being utilized to fully suppress the fire. Structure assessment and preparation work is on going in the community of Wawona.

The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias is home to over 500 mature trees. Efforts to protect these trees and the historic structures within the Grove include: removing hazard fuels, deploying temporary sprinkler systems, and utilizing protective structure wrap on the base of the trees as well as on the Galen Clark Cabin.
