I have had many CPR classes over the past few years but was never told this…..

Have you ever thought about being alone and having a heart attack? What are you going to do?

This is a post that can't be shared often enough:
1.
Take a 2 minute break now and read this.
Let's say it's 5:25 pm and you're driving home after a hard day's work.
2.
You are really tired and frustrated.
Suddenly your chest hurts. Pain is starting to radiate into your arm and jaw. It feels like being stabbed in the chest and heart. You're only a few miles away from the nearest hospital or your home.
3.
Unfortunately you don't know if you can make it.@
4.
Maybe you've taken CPR training, but the person running the course hasn't told you how to help yourself.
5.
How do you survive a heart attack when you're alone? A person who is feeling weak and whose heart is beating hard has only about 10 seconds before losing consciousness.
6.
But you can help yourself by coughing repeatedly and very strongly! Deep breaths before every cough. Coughing should be repeated every second until you arrive at the hospital or until your heart starts to beat normally.
7.
Deep breathing gives oxygen to your lungs and coughing movements boost the heart and blood circulation. Heart pressure also helps to restore a normal heartbeat. This is how cardiac arrest victims can make it to the hospital for the right treatment.
8.
Cardiologists say if someone gets this message and passes it on to 10 people, we can expect to save at least one life.
9.
FOR WOMEN: You should know that women have additional and different symptoms. We rarely have crushing chest pain or pain in the arms. Often it feels like indigestion and tightness across the back at the bra line plus sudden fatigue.

I just saw this in the carnival advisor group and thought I’d post here just in case you have clients booked for this cruise:

Hey all. Wondering if anyone here has advice. There are over 30 cruisers about to be left behind at the port of Miami for the Conquest today. So there was a rule change about passports a few months ago if your ship is docking in Columbia. Most people on the ship received letters a month ago advising this. A lot of people, including myself, booked in the last few weeks. The online check in still says you can sail with a birth certificate and drivers license.
The confirmation email says with approved documents, NOT passports.
Carnival is advising everyone here that not only will you not be allowed to board, but nobody is receiving a refund because it is their fault they didn't bring a passport. Any advice? There are lots of people here being turned away. It will probably be over a hundred. Wow 😯

Client learning moment: I have a group booked on Exoticca and their T&C are such that if you cancel you will not receive any part of your deposit back. This particular client signed my travel insurance waiver understanding the terms of the cancellation. I begged them to get the travel insurance like everyone else but they said no.....low and behold fast forward to today. I received a phone call that they needed to cancel. I reminded them of the cancellation policy and informed them they would be out over $3K for their deposit. I heard their face crack through the phone!!! Expensive lesson learned.

FAQ of cruising....

The cheapest month of year to go on a cruise is typically the late summer and fall months. Cruise pricing is based on supply and demand which is why prices tend to be higher during holiday/school break periods. If you are looking for a deal and don’t want to go in late summer or fall months, cruise during some of the non-peak months listed below.

Mid January-early February – prices tend to drop after the holiday season
End of February – prices around Valentine’s Day tend to be higher but towards the end of the month will come down again
Early May – after spring break and before kids are out of school for the summer prices drop in early May
Mid to late September – after Labor Day prices trend downward for the remainder of September
Early December – Thanksgiving and Christmas are two of the busiest weeks of the year - cruise in between the two holidays if you’re looking for lower pricing.
