Happy Veterans Day to all who served! We are forever grateful for your sacrifice and dedication. This is a photo of my dad from his Navy Days. He is the one that gave me the love of being at sea. I think the reason I love to cruise so much is that I know is he close to me then. I hope all of our Veterans get a nice day to relax and feel honored.

First I want to thank everyone who liked or commented on my pictures from our cruise to Italy and Greece!! It was an amazing 2 weeks and I got to experience so much! We did tours in almost every port and brought back a vast knowledge and also amazing memories! This was a bucket list trip that took a few extra years due to Covid. But travel as we know is back!! Final port Livorno. We did a tour to Lucca and Pisa because we didn't think it would be enough tome in Florence
What a great choice. Lucca is a small walled city and you feel like you are walking back in time. It was our only partially rainy day but it was beautiful. Had the best meal of the trip there! Yesterday we got up at 6;00 am to shower and disembark. Got home at 1am which was just about 24 hours of traveling. So moving slow today!

2nd last port was Naples. We wanted a laid back day so we did the hop.on hop off bus. Those are nice to get an overview of a city. We thought about going to Pompeii but the other days were so busy we needed a rest.. that will have to be a next time. Dinner at Le Bistro again.

Next port Catania Sicily! We did a tour to Castelmola and Taomorina! Castelmola is a tiny town at the top of a mountain, our well skilled bus driver got us up and back down safely. Taomorina is at the bottom of the mountain and is bigger but just as historic. I have loved all of the tours I booked. Catania is at the base of Mt Etna. She was having a calm day so no eruption sighting for us.

Next stop Malta! This was probably my favorite so far (going to Lucca and Pisa today).
We did a walking tour of Valletta which included the Basilica of St John the Baptist. What an amazing story and church. It rivaled St Peter's Basilica. Then off to Mdena, the old Capitol of Malta. A small walled city. Game of Thrones fans will recognize to entry as Kings Landing in season 1 (I'm not a fan but Terry was). The history was remarkable. The guide explained history of the Knights Of Malta. And how the island changed hands making even their language a mixture of everything to Arabic to Italian to French and even some English.

Our next stop was Katakolon Greece. Of course a tour to the ancient Olympic site. Really timely with the Olympics being this year. Terry actually ran on the same field as the ancient athletes. A very interesting and educational day.

Day 7! Mykonos Greece! Our tour included a stop at a beach, then visit to a 1500's built more monastery. After that a stop at a bakery for a local treat and then into the little city with its maze of shops. It is a very cool place to visit! And I got to light another candle for my mom. I can't wait to show her the pictures.

Day 6 Athens Greece. We did a tour that included an optional hike to the acropolis. Terry was the only one in our group of 5 that did it. It was hot!! But we went shopping and had some great cappuccino and baklava!

Day 5 Santorini, Greece. We did an excursion to a winery, Oli and ending in Fira to take the Cable car back down to the ship. (Not my favorite part) our excursion took us by boat to a different pier where we boarded a bus up the zig zag mountain to avoid the cable car or donkeys. The winery was very nice with Greek snacks. I have no pictures going down the cable car, my eyes were closed!

Day 3 and 4 were boarding and an "at sea" day. Much needed relaxation before a string of 8 busy port days.

Day 2! Early wake up to get to St. Peter's Basilica by 7 am before the line starts, I got to light a candle for my mom and that made me happy. On to the Vatican Museums for 11 am then hop on hop off bus to see more of Rome. Stops at the Spanish steps and back to the Trevi Fountain for the others to see. A great dinner near the Pantheon and to bed early for an early transfer to the cruise port.

Ok I'm pretty far behind on posts. On August 25th Terry and I flew to Rome for a cruise we first planned in February of 2018 to sail in October 2020. We all know what happened next. Fast forward we finally got to take this trip! Day 1 Rome! We landed in Rome at 8:30 am and got our transfer to our hotel. A small hotel located between the Trevi fountain and the Pantheon. After dropping our bags restarted walking. The trevi fountain then the Pantheon. Being a bricklayer Terry really appreciated the dome on the Pantheon. We had 12:50 pm tickets to the attic in the coliseum. 20,000 steps later we arrived to check in to our hotel and wait for Jodi, Dana and Nate. A new restaurant right next to the hotel was dinner, then off to sleep for the first time since the morning of the 24th. But a great day 1.
