While out in a early morning boat ride I came across this yearling squirrel desperately trying to swim to shore from about 200' out. My guess it was in the clutches of the local osprey or eagle that couldn't hang on. While it was struggling to stay afloat, I used the anchor light pole for it to grab ahold and bring it in the boat. This poor little guy was exhausted and coughing up water while laying on the floor next to me. It layed there peacefully resting as I rushed the 2 mile trip back to the house. Once there, it recouped on and near my sweat shirt for about 20 minutes until it slowly climbed up our 100 year old cottonwood tree to rest.

Early spring, pelican feeding frenzy

For those who met our grandpuppy, Stella spent many years visiting our renters with a wagging tail and a gentle lick. Playing with the children and welcoming "pets". She passed peacefully today at the age of 13 1/2 years old. Volume up... for Stella....
