Also showed Roll N Coal aka "Marley" both days and though we ended the weekend one out of the money in every class he ended up third in the 4 year old derby and $5000 novice horse non pro year end standings so was a good year for him! Looking forward to next year already with him!

Well the old man still has it! Decided to show Farmers Barn Cat aka "Felix" at the year end show and Heartland Circuit Finals in a very talent rich $25,000 Novice Horse Non-Pro class this past weekend and he marked a 73.5 and 74 to bring home money both days! Thanks to Trent Johnson and Greeley Hat Works for keeping us looking sharp all year long! Next stop the 2024 NCHA Futurity with 3 year old CD Metal Man aka "Newt" coming up next month in Fort Worth, Texas! Stay tuned!

15 years with my sweet Tanna girl was definitely not long enough! They say you’re blessed if you have one good dog in your lifetime, and I know I certainly was!

Tanna came into my life 15 years ago when I was training cutting horses in Utah. I needed a cow dog to help me with the daily chores of sorting, doctoring, moving cows and occasionally turning back. She had been started on cattle and I certainly hadn’t had a cow dog, so we learned together. She never shorted a task and was never more then two steps behind me her whole life. I think I just got used to always having her around so the weight of her loss is hitting me hard.

When I say this dog saved my life, I mean that in the literal sense. Several years back I had a small herd of buffalo which I used to train my cutting horses. I had one buffalo in particular that was becoming aggressive and I was aware of this everyday as I walked out into the pen to check feed. It was a cool fall morning and the buffalo were around the backside of the arena so I decided to take the opportunity to check feed when they couldn’t see me. I no sooner made it to the feeder when I caught sight of the heifer come around the arena. She put her head down and began pawing the ground. I knew I couldn’t out run her. We stood at a stand still, which felt like a lifetime. In a split second the buffalo charged me. I was frozen, trying to decide my next move but by the grace of god my sweet tanna came out of nowhere. She grabbed onto the buffalo nose, stopping it in in tracks. I had never seen her do that before! I made a run for the fence in my coveralls and very restrictive winter attire. The buffalo shook tanna off and was now angry, it came at me again! I didn’t stop but glanced over my shoulder to see Tanna again latch onto the buffalo’s nose. I made it to the fence and scaled it faster than I ever thought was humanly possible. It was in that moment that I knew Tanna was in my life for a reason, she was my guardian angel!

We shared many great adventures together and I feel so blessed to have had as many years as I had with her. I loved this little dog more than words can say!

During one of the photo shoots for the American Cowgirl Project, Gabriel Krekk asked me to describe what I would envision as a photo that captures who I am. I simply stated “A picture with my dog,” and he did just that!

She will forever be my….once in a lifetime! I will never again step foot in the cow pen without thinking of her! RIP sweet girl ❤️

Sure excited about these 2 home raised Metallics MVP babies!!!!! Both smart, strong, athletic, kind, and very trainable! 3 year old futurity prospect CD Metal Man (MVP x Ariel; HBCD x Poosmal) and 2 year old filly Meow Mix (MVP x Rosie CD; HBCD x Little Rosie Rosita). CD Metal Man to be shown at the 2024 NCHA Futurity in the Non-Pro class. Stay tuned!

Well today is finally the day we've been preparing for for the past 2 years. Of course It all began just shy of 4 years ago however with the arrival of this super horse. Born on 4/20 he was aptly barn named "Marley" and quickly captured us with his laid back independence, confidence, and inquisitiveness. As we walk to the herd today for the first time in Will Rogers Coliseum on this home raised, home-trained, small-town boy we are excited to continue turning the pages to see what his future holds. Regardless of what the outcome is we are so thankful for this horse and those that have helped and supported us through the years so we could have this opportunity....
