Katherine Newman, LLC

Katherine got her start in the horse business at a very young age out of her parents’ Allwyn Court Farm in Upperville, VA. Katherine's mother, Kathy, founded Allwyn Court after training with George Morris for many years. Over the years, Kathy has produced several national champions. Katherine's father, Gerry, is a retired steeplechase jockey originally from Ireland. Katherine trained full time wit

h her parents, but she has also been under the tutelage of many Olympic riders including Laura Kraut, Todd Minikus, and Peter Wylde as well as Karen Healey, Jennifer Alfano, Susie Schoellkopf, Havens Schatt, and Mike Henaghan. Katherine had an extremely successful career as a junior rider and her accomplishments continued into her professional career. Her career highlights can be seen here. When Katherine was 16 years old, she earned a 5th place ribbon in her Grand Prix debut with a double clear round. In her first year as a professional at the age of 19, Katherine won the Emerging Professional Challenge at Capital Challenge. Throughout her career, Katherine has had extensive experience catch riding and training very different types of horses as well as developing and producing green horses. Recently she has competed at the Grand Prix Level, earning placings at the Vermont Summer Festival, Sussex County, Devon Fall Classic, Brownland, and County Heir. 2017 has proven to be a successful year so far, earning multiple championships in the hunter ring adding up to a WEF Reserve Circuit Championship in the Green Hunter 3'3 division. In addition to riding, training, and managing, Katherine has served as a member of the USHJA Young Professionals Committee.
