The world’s largest wine barrel, Heidelberg Tun, can be found in the castle. Built in 1751, it holds 220,000 liters (58,124 gallons) of wine. There are stairs that you can take to climb on top where I understand you will find a small dance floor. We danced!

One of my all-time favorite wines is Tempranillo grand reserve from Rioja. One of the best part about my “job” is I have to try them, learn about them and share them with others. I love how these wines are not that expensive for the quality. One of the main reason I think Spain is overlooked for their wine. Bodegas Lan Grand Reserve 2016 Tempranillo is tasting amazing!

Do you ever see these Cross Keys on souther Rhône wine bottles and wonder what they mean?

The trademark emblem of Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines is the papal coat of arms of the city of Avignon: two crossed keys, that of Saint Peter. The presence of this emblem guarantees the authenticity and quality of the wine, and any wine not up to standard is refused the right to the appellation.
