Back in January a photo of a 5 year old sad-eyed, badly scarred buggy horse was shared. He was a (auction) broker owned Dutch Harness cross that I bought soley off of a few photos an a brief description. When I met him 3 days later I thought "who broke you handsome boy" and I reassured him that he has worked his last bad day.
This past weekend I took him to Tryon CDE. Even though I was entered, I was fine to retire if it became too much - it's a big environment if you've never been.
Friday was dressage and I wanted a positive experience, and I thought he did well considering his nerves. We were 5th out of 7.
Saturday was marathon, and again I just wanted an educational trip, but he got smoother & smoother with every obstacle. He even won two and I (honestly) wasn't even trying! We were 3rd out of 7. We joked that he went to auction because he made his past owner Late To Church, hence his show name, but he wasn't going to be late on marathon! Thank You Pepper for a fun time!
Sunday was cones and he went out nice & relaxed, but I lost steering in a combination that cost me 1 penalty, but we were clear on time. We were 2nd out of 7.
Awards was almost what got me, so if you're driving past the barn and hear loud music, mind your business 😂
Overall we finished 4th out of 7 with a 164.6.
Finishing just ahead of us in 3rd, was my (adult) student Deanna with SplashMan! They had a terrific weekend!
Many thanks to Deanna's hubby Matt and our stablemates Erin & Joshua and Tim for all of their help and the good company!!
Bud, you are a very good boyband I'm one proud Horse Mama! I can't wait to see what this young horse grows into.
