Help us Welcome Carrie Chimenti to Pranzo Tours!
Fresh off our recent tour to Umbria, we are pleased to announce that Carrie Chimenti has joined us as a tour leader and concierge. Carrie is a dual citizen of the USA and Italy, and began her sculpting career in Florence in 1996. After receiving her MFA in sculpture from American University, Italy, Carrie worked in Todi, Italy for world-renowned sculptor Beverly Pepper. Carrie lived in Tuscany, Umbria and Rome during her time in Italy.

In addition to her deep knowledge and love of Italy, Carrie is also a sought-after artist here in the U.S. for her beautiful Italian plaster and decorative wall finishes for private and commercial clients.

Carrie speaks fluent Italian and is equally fluent in Italian culture, food and history. And, she is an amazing mom to two beautiful girls named Gabriella and Elisabetta.
Come and meet her on our next Pranzo Tour to Puglia this October! ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ;

Umbrian olive oil is magical!! I love to go there and take a piece of bread and dunk into a dish of extra virgin. It's a regular part of our trips to Umbria and always a favorite! The place that I love to go is run by a brother and sister team, using the same equipment as their grandfather.

Come with us to Umbria and share the experience. https://www.pranzotours.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Pranzo-Tours-Umbria-2023-Itinerary-121422.pdf

We are looking forward to our tour and tasting at The Pastificio Gentile. Founded in 1876, it is one of the historic artisan factories in Gragnano, "the city of pasta." We will seeing their handmade fusilli made with an underwire and left to dry slowly and of course try samples of some their products.

Perched on a great spur of rock, over 1,100 feet above the sea, the tiny town of Ravello rewards those who make their way up to the town from the Amalfi Coast's seaside villages with spectacular views. The town has become known as “la città della musica“, city of music, with the Villa Rufolo being the center of annual summer music festival that features piano concerts, chamber music, and a grand orchestral performance on a stage built jutting out over the Mediterranean Sea and the bay of Maiori. We are excited to be visiting Ravello on our October excursion.

Getting out on the water off the Amalfi Coast brings a unique perspective to the natural beauty of the rocky cliffs and the villages tucked into bays and coves. We will be getting out on the water twice during our October Sorrento excursion, for fishing and snorkeling and to visit the cliffside villages of Positano, Amalfi and Ravello.

Sorrento is famous for its lemons! They are extremely large and aromatic with few seeds and a rind that contains lots of oil. Perfect for Limoncello! Limoncello is a liquor made from the zest of Sorrento lemons along with sugar, water and of course alcohol, usually grappa. Each region in the Amalfi coast area has its own limoncello recipe and flavors vary from place to place. Natives enjoy it cold, but not iced, as an aperitif or digestif. We are looking forward to sampling limoncello in a lemon garden on our October trip!

One of my favorite things to do in Sorrento is visit the Ruoppo family’s farmhouse Fattoria Terranova for a cooking class and wine tasting. The farmhouse is on a hillside, amidst a garden of lemons, tomatoes, garlic, and herbs that we help harvest and use to create local specialties. We also taste and become educated on local wines – which makes the work easier! Don’t’ miss out on this immersive experience! The deadline to book our October 11-20 tour is Wed. August 10th! This urban grazing experience is part of my Oct. 11-20, 2022 excursion. The deadline to book is Wed., August 10th.
