Just returned from a 3 day St Croix River canoe trip, this one a private trip with Barry and his 3 sons of Manhattan, NY. Wayne and Alan return later today from a 5 day Allagash trip and we're back on the Allagash Tuesday for 7 days. August is a busy month for sure!

An early morning paddle on a recent 10 day canoe trip down the Northeast Mistissibi river in Quebec

Just returned from guiding another five day Allagash canoe trip sponsored by the Allagash Wilderness Waterway Foundation. Joel Carvell and his son Jake Carvel of Cardboard Films (YouTube channel) sponsored this MOOSE calling contest and donated $50 to the winner Nathan of Monticello. Nice to see students off their devices and having some good old-fashioned fun! Who knows, perhaps there’s some future recreation and hunting guides in this group!

East Grand outdoor education student Emma today gathering, tinder, wood, and using a striker to start and maintain a fire. Emma even had time to start on a brush shelter all within about an hours time. As Maine guides, we know the importance of being able to start and maintain a cooking and warming fire under any condition

What do you do when you can't go canoeing? Head north with a snowmobile! I enjoyed guiding this group of first time snowmobilers Albert Propst, Mark Charette and friends. We stayed at Shin Pond Village where they rented snowmobiles. After some basic instruction on safety and operating, we headed off to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway to view the tramway and Eagle Lake and West Branch railroad. We had lunch at Libby Camps and timed it right for the flyin. On or last day we sledded over to the Homestead Lodge in Oxbow for lunch. This all happened just right before the rain came in on Wednesday.
