WA Dept of Fish & Wildlife 2023:
announces 36 days of tentative coastal razor clam digging opportunities beginning Sept. 29
On all open beaches – Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks, and Copalis – the daily limit is 15 clams per person. Each digger’s clams must be kept in a separate container, and all diggers must keep the first 15 clams they dig, regardless of size or condition.
“It's important that diggers keep the clams they dig to prevent wastage,” Blumenthal said. “It's not unusual to encounter some small clams, especially this early in the season.”
Kalaloch beach off the northern Olympic Peninsula coast won’t be open due to continuing issues with depressed populations of harvestable clams.
Most successful digging occurs between one and two hours before the listed time of low tide. Below are the tentative dates, along with low tides and beaches.

On your drive to Westport from Seattle or Olympia, you’ll pass by the Ocean Spray plant - see details in comment below. I had no idea that the Westport / Grayland communities were home to productive cranberry farms! We’ve enjoyed exploring the cranberry bogs area in summers. There are self directed drives plus the Cranberry Museum nearby. You might consider driving along the cranberry farms - especially during the fall harvest.

* The state park directly next door to our building has a fabulous walk / bike trail. Some days we walk the beach and other days we walk the state park trail.

* Westport Winery (you’ll pass it a few miles before driving into Westport) has a delicious restaurant. Lovely gardens to walk through, an interesting Mermaid Museum, and winery / wine tasting.
* Lighthouse Bistro is about two blocks from our condo complex and has excellent dining choices.

* The Shop n Kart store nearby doesn’t look like a grocery and looks small but is well stocked with everything you might want from a grocery store including meats and produce.
* You can buy fresh local seafoods and local canned tuna (women owned tuna company) near the marina.
* Charter fishing boats can be scheduled daily.
* Ice cream shops and a kite store are near the marina.
* There are more beaches to see when driving the road to Grayland for an afternoon and Grayland Outfitters is a fun store / wine shop that direction too. Take some side roads to see the many cranberry fields which I didn’t know were in Washington before.
