🚨Weather Alert 🚨 Please read the following from Grays Harbor County Emergency Management.

There is currently a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 7 AM to 1 PM on Friday (12/13) and a coastal flood watch remains in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon (12/14).

Saturday, there is a higher confidence in, at a minimum, with Moderate Flooding for Westport’s coastal areas. Surf conditions will remain hazardous throughout the weekend. The wave heights have increased in height to 17-19 feet, which when combined with high tide levels brings an increased risk of flooding and erosion along the coastline.

Wind seems to have come down a little bit but still may see gusts up to 40 mph on the immediate coast.

Inner coastal impacts: While the rivers aren’t running especially high right now, Hoquiam, Aberdeen and Cosmopolis do have the potential for tidal overflow.

Please be sure to plan ahead, be prepared, and remain a safe distance from the coastline during flood advisories. We recommend following Grays Harbor County Emergency Management for updates.

Beachcombing… a favorite for generations of visitors.

Heading into winter, we’re entering prime beachcombing months. Thanks to winter storms and heavier waves, the late fall and winter season marks the best time of the year to find unique treasures carried across the Pacific and washing up on our local shorelines.

To make the hunt more exciting, Westport’s experience is launching over 1,000 authentic glass floats between now and April 30, 2025. The floats are real, retired working floats imported from Japan. The hunt is real and reflects winds and tides landing these traditional treasures on Westport's beaches.

As they say… happy hunting! Learn more about glass floats here: https://www.wsbhs.org/wildfloats
