In 2017 the Super PAC Store began acquiring Twitter handles and offering them to candidates under IT consulting contracts, citing the 2009 acquisition by CNN of the Twitter handle from web developer James Cox.

We operate within the guidelines for Twitter handle acquisition that were established in 2007 when a web developer named James Cox signed up for Twitter and created an account with the handle , although he had no affiliation with the Cable News Network. By 2009 had nearly a million followers, far surpassing the official CNN Twitter account. CNN wanted to acquire the popular handle but Twitter rules state that handles such as cannot be sold. To facilitate the transfer Twitter allowed CNN to acquire the handle by signing James Cox to a consultant contract with CNN that included the transfer of the handle. A few months later, Cox received a phone call from CNN who had noticed how Cox and others had also begun to use the account. After some discussion, they both agreed to work collaboratively on the account with CNN helping promote it and Cox sharing his knowledge of Twitter and other social media applications with them. The agreement they arrived upon, according to CNN, means in exchange for the transferring the account over to CNN, Cox will provide consulting services to their staff."

Our first sale was on the 4th of July, when six fully functional Political Action Committees registered with the Federal Election Committee were sold in what was marketed as “The 4th of July Super Six PAC sale.” The $300 sale was cancelled after it was revealed that the buyer was a foreign national from Turkey and unable to legally complete the sale.
