If you’re looking for a brand new, fancy, “mountain modern” luxury condo, keep looking. BUT, if what appeals to you is an old, quaint, charming, casual, convenient, family friendly true Whitefish original, keep reading…
The Bunkhouse is a modest, wooden centurion with a vast and infamous history, located in downtown Whitefish’s Railway District. Along with everyone else in town, you will hear (an
d feel) the train and the 10 o’clock horn. From its squeaky wooden floors to its barnwood wainscotting and gas heat stove, it is cozy and inviting. In summer, cool off with a nearby dunk in the river or lake. Don’t fight the tourist traffic, park your car and hop on the SNOW bus or stroll through the new pedestrian tunnel to the farmer’s market. Hop on the bicycle/pedestrian path across the street and in a few short minutes you can walk to all you need; market, restaurants, shops, bars, theater, parks, library. Walk on the path in the other direction and you are at the Whitefish River access in less than 5 minutes, or at the Whitefish Lake City Beach in 10-15 minutes, depending on if you stop to smell the chokecherry and apple blossoms along the way. With two bedrooms and one ADA accessible bathroom, the Bunkhouse sleeps 6 and is perfect for a small family with 1-4 kiddos, or 2 couples. Other than cleanliness, convenience, and character, the Bunkhouse offers the use of a cooler (none of that Styrofoam crap), beach towels, chairs, blanket and umbrella, an insulated daypack, bear spray, and a couple of snow sleds which you can all use at your own risk and ability. There is a washer and dryer in the building. Wi-Fi and flatscreen Roku T.V., backyard picnic table and gas grill. We supply Montana Coffee Trader’s coffee, hot cocoa, and, if you’re lucky, a few homemade cookies. Hosts are not onsite, but nearby. Come stay a spell at the Bunkhouse.
