You have the opportunity to engage in developing the Comprehensive River Management Plan (CRMP)! Keep reading to learn how to make comments or get details for one of our informational sessions.

📝 The Flathead National Forest has provided a Proposed Action document that describes desired conditions, capacity, management direction, and monitoring. We are asking for public input on this document to help inform the development of the Comprehensive River Management Plan.

This public comment period will be open for 30 days, concluding February 7, 2025. Those interested in participating and submitting comments can do so through the following website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/flathead/?project=56536

📅 Join us and Glacier National Park for one of two informational sessions scheduled in January!

We will also be hosting two sessions at Flathead Valley Community College on Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22

Both will take place in the Arts and Technology building, room 130 (AT-130) from 6:00p to 8:00p

A brief presentation will open the info sessions with an option for virtual attendance, followed by open-house format with tables staffed with resource specialists (fisheries, recreation, wildlife, etc.) where participants can visit at their pace, ask questions, and discuss elements of the proposed action.

In response to the growing housing challenges faced by local workers, we launched the Workforce Rental Assistance Program this year. This initiative has provided direct rental support to help working families stay in the community they call home. The program’s impact in its first year has been significant.

Thank you to our partners, donors and supporters for helping make this program possible.

We have big goals for the future of the program and look forward to continuing to grow the Workforce Rental Assistance Program and increasing community housing options in Whitefish for those that want to live, work and play in our community.

Summer’s winding down, so remember to check which activities are available before heading up to the mountain 🏔️

Everything will be open as normal through Labor Day weekend. Starting September 3rd, we will transition to the following operations:

OPEN DAILY (Sept. 3-15): Scenic Lift Rides, Whitefish Bike Park, Summit House food and drinks, Hiking trails, Base Lodge Ticket Counter.

WEEKENDS ONLY (Sept. 7-8 and 14-15): Zip Line Tours, Alpine Slides, Aerial Adventure Park, Mountain bike rentals, Chairs 6 and 10, Base Lodge food and drinks.

Finally, please note the Strider Bike Park and Spider Monkey Mountain will be closed for the season starting Saturday, Aug. 31. Enjoy summer while it lasts!

The Workforce Assistance Program has helped 16 single parents successfully live and work in the community by providing rental assistance.

The goal of the program is to prevent displacement for those currently living and working in the community and provide opportunities for those living outside the Whitefish but working here to live here.

We are grateful to the support from the City of Whitefish, the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce, Explore Whitefish, the Foley Family Charitable Foundation, and a number of local businesses.

Together we can continue to make a bigger impact on the lives of those in our community.
