One of the whales we have observed on this trip is a male humpback, at least 49 years old.

❓️ How do we know?
The underside of the tail has a pattern specific to each whale.
❓️How else?
Happywhale.com allows people to submit photos of the underside of whale tails for tracking purposes.

This 🐋 was seen twice in Hawaii
in 1986 (he was fully mature at this time, so at least 11 years old), then photographed again in Feb 2024 in Hawaii, followed by 3 sightings in Sitka Alaska in Oct 2024, and lastly with our sighting May 29 2024 in Prince William Sound.

Heads up! The aurora forecast is extremely strong this weekend, and the aurora can possibly be seen as far south as northern Alabama!

Best viewing? Dark and clear skies, and be away from city lights. Sometimes the aurora dances, sometimes it is a glow that fades in an out.
