So Royal is the winner from the amount of things offered. However this is another one of those categories where it boils down to your personal taste/preferences and what vibe you are looking for.

If you want constant non stop active activities then Royal is going to be your jam.

If you want more chill activities Disney is your jam.

The main shows on both are really a toss up. From an objective standpoint both ships/lines have incredibly talented performers. For me the Aqua show on Utopia was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen on a cruise ship. But I personally preferred the Disney shows to the stage and ice show I saw on Utopia. However, that is a total personal preference things because both the stage and ice show performers delivered amazing performances and those types of shows might be more your vibe than a Disney movie turned into a live stage show.

If you want Disney themed magic then Disney is your win. If you could care less about Disney themeing then Royal is the way to go.

Keep in mind that both ships have enough going on to keep you entertained and busy the whole time if that is your speed and both are also easy to just relax on and skip the activities.

Ok so today I’m going to focus on what I consider to be a very important part of any vacation…

🍽️Food

✨🚢Disney Wish Offerings

They offer rotational dining and you get to experience three unique dining venues for dinner during your cruise. On the Wish it is Arendelle (Frozen themed dining and show), 1923 (A nod to classic Disney animation and the life of Walt Disney), & Worlds of Marvel.

Additionally there is Marceline’s Market (the buffet) and Festival of Foods, which has all kinds of quick service options from Tacos to BBQ to Pizza and more!

Disney offers only two specialty dining options on board the Wish (on some ships it is just 1) and they are both Adults only. Palo and Enchante. Both offer a dinner and brunch option and both are very limited in their availability. Other than that all food venues are included.

🚢🌊Utopia of the Seas Offerings

They offer Main dining room, Windjammer Cafe (The Buffet), El Loco Fresh (Mexican), Spare Tire (Grab and Go options), Sorrento’s (Pizza), and Promenade Cafe (Quick bites- Sandwiches and pastries), and Solarium Bistro (Mediterranean by reservation only). These are all the included options.

There are then several specialty up charge options such as Mason Jar, Chops, Johnny Rockets, 150 Central Park, etc…

Essentially on Royal it feels like there are more specialty up charge options than included ones.

Full disclosure- on Disney we have paid the up charge for Palo Brunch. On Royal we did no specialty dining because it was easier for our kids to be entertained while we had brunch than it was to figure out a dinner without them and I was not going to spend extra on my picky eaters lol.

🚢🌊Utopia Food Quality- I’m giving them a 6/10. I was not impressed. It wasn’t awful and it was edible but it was mediocre. If Food is a deal breaker for you then this is not your cruise line. I will say as a foodie I would still go on Royal in the future because of the other things they have to offer. For kids the food is good, especially if you have big eaters. I have heard if you are a foodie to skip main dining and just pay to eat specialty every night. I would guess there is truth there.

🚢✨Disney Wish Food Quality: 8.5/10 for main dining 10/10 for Palo Brunch. The only thing keeping Disney from a 10 in my book is their Pirate Night menu and the fact that I didn’t love my dessert at Worlds of Marvel. Other than that the food is top notch.

Disney is the clear winner on food. Royal is not even close.

To start here is a basic intro to our time on a Disney ship and a Royal ship. I’ll expound on this a tiny bit more in my stories so check in there later today.

Three adjectives to describe each ship:

🚢✨Disney Wish: Elegant, Whimsical, Magical

🚢🌊Utopia of the Seas: Electric, Thrilling, Innovative

Two ships. Identical itineraries. Two totally different vibes.

We loved both. For me the overall feel of the ship goes to Disney, however that is purely personal preference. I was able to see quickly why some people prefer Royal and love it. Utopia is crazy cool and has so many neat and unique spaces on board.

🛏️Staterooms

🚢✨Disney Wish- 2 Deluxe Family Ocean view Staterooms with Verandahs

We loved these rooms. They were perfectly themed, comfy beds, and did allow for us to all hang in one room a few times even though we were sleeping in two. Loved having the Verandah. The last time we sailed with Disney we did Interior rooms. I don’t think I can go back to non Verandah rooms on Disney. The most that Disney sleeps in a normal room is 5 so no matter what unless I win the lottery and book a tower suite that sleeps more than 5 we will always need two rooms on Disney.

🚢🌊 Utopia of the Seas- 1 Ultra Spacious Oceanview Room

We got a normal non suite room at an affordable price that slept ALL 6 of us! And it was HUGE!!! King Bed, Bunk Beds, Couch bed with trundle bed, two large windows, desk and shelf area and a WALK-IN closet!!! We LOVED this room and enjoyed hanging out together in it throughout the cruise.

So stateroom experience goes to Royal.

I’ll be sharing a full debrief throughout this week but overall we really enjoyed our time on Utopia of the Seas.

The ship is beautiful and FULL of activities for the whole family. We especially loved our stateroom and many of the public spaces.

We enjoyed the shows, especially the Aqua 80s Too show! Soooo good!

We loved our time in Nassau. While we stayed on the ship in Nassau on the Wish we went on an excursion this time and got to enjoy a historical tour and explore some of the great products the island produces. It was a very well done excursion and our guide, Lucky, was the best!

We loved Coco Cay and enjoyed the relaxed vibe.

My big complaint for both this ship and the Wish- 4 nights is not long enough to enjoy either!!! 😊😊😊

We are on long road back to KS from Florida!!!

Our Month long adventure is coming to an end. We enjoyed two cruises, time with the grandparents and other family in Texas, and friends in Louisiana and Florida.

Monday it is back to the grind and full steam ahead into prepping to head back to Florida in less than two weeks for my Agency conference!

So excited to network with my fellow agents and engage with all our suppliers. It will be a great few days of learning so I can better server all my clients and also have a little fun with my Travelmation family at one of my favorite places! ☺️
