Day 1 results are in with the 6081 leading after 361 miles. The points leader, #6052 was leading through 100 miles but experienced a little down time allowing the 6081 Schmueser Racing team to get by. 6052 retook the lead later in the race but would suffer another setback that would prevent them finishing day 1.
#6071 Dallas Theobald kept a steady pace and continued to pick up speed as the race went on.
The Sullivan family finished 2:30 apart with Daniel edging out Clayton at the finish.

No update yet on #6080, we know they ended their day early, unknown to us exactly what the issue was at the time of this post.

Day 2 staging is in progress stay tuned for updates!

Looking back 10 years 😱 what a race we had in Parker to kick off the 2014 season. Clean shot of the #6077 in tech. (Image 1)

Several lead changes during the race started with the #6060 entry. Ben Abatti got out quick and built a 10 minute lead on the class by the end of lap 1. But the #6060 would develop a crack in the chassis around the front suspension and would need some attention. (Image 2)

#6025 team with Jeff Proctor behind the wheel into the lead and through lap 2. Unfortunately a transmission failure would set them back. (Image 3)

This allowed the #6048 of driven by Chris Wacker into the lead part midway through lap 3 but they had company. (Image 4)

The #6044 entry of Andrew McLeod followed closely by 2013 Champion #6002 Todd Jackson and #6077 with Brian Antle behind the wheel. (Image 5)

McLeod described how the pack tightened up, “We got stuck behind a class 8 truck with no way to get around. It allowed me to catch up to Wacker but Todd Jackson caught up to me. We had already done 400 miles and the last 20 would be a full throttle sprint to the finish.” (image 6)

At the finish the #6002 of Todd Jackson and Mike Slater would edge out the #6044 on corrected time by 2:25. McCleod’s #6044 takes second by 1:25 over the #6048 of Chris Wacker. Antle in the #6077 finished just behind them in 4th. After mending the chassis on lap 2, Team Abatti would round out the top 5.

Defending TrophyLite champion PJ Guglielmo in the #6001 team was set back after a Robby Gordon rollover had blocked the course for some time. They would have engine issues that would end their day early. (Image 7 & 8)

The next race in the 2024 series takes us to the Legacy Racing Frontier 500 on April 18-21st!

As Monday starts off, I can't stop thinking about all the hard work that went into this NORRA 1000. All the logistics. All the rebuilding. All the tools. All the pep talks. All the questions that needed to be answered. Every detail to get 3...3 Canam utv's from the start of each day to the end of each day. But it was so amazing that no matter how stressful or how someone got on ones nerves (because we are human and it happens) at the end of the day they were all a team. Smiles. Hugs. Pats on the back. The "Good job" being said. Helping each other to get thru those late late hours of work. The Acopalados always with a smile on their faces. Jason and Josh holding it together. You could see the stress, the tiredness from lack of sleep and all the miles put in that day, but they keep it together. Always willing to do what was needed. Even an 'interview.' Angie Mitchell being the road mom. Making sure everyone had snacks and water. Making sure that both the Racer and the workers were okay. Always with a smile from ear to ear.
