Catching the iconic sunrise over the Tetons is a bucket list accomplishment. Our local staff member and avid outdoor enthusiast Joe B. put together the perfect itinerary to experience an unforgettable morning. Time to set your alarm!
☀️ Start out the morning by waking up at 4:30am and driving to Schwabacher landing. This might seem early to most, but it is definitely worth it! As you travel North out of town, you’ll get to watch the Tetons come to life as the day begins to unfold. If you’re staying in one of our rentals situated in Teton Village, you’ll want to take Moose-Wilson road which will also afford you ample wildlife viewing opportunities and a tranquil landscape.
⛰️ Make your way down the winding road to the parking lot and take a brisk walk to an inviting seating area along the Snake River. Here, the calm water reflects the towering mountains, creating a picture-perfect moment. If you’re lucky, you may be joined by a flock of ducks or even a moose! As the sun rises, casting a golden hue across the landscape, take a moment to soak in the beauty and tranquility of the morning.
☕️ After you watch the sunrise, head back in town to grab a craft cup of joe at (the iced dirty horchata is a local favorite!)
🌯 Then head over to D.O.G for some of the best breakfast burritos in town.
✨ The rest of the day is full of endless possibilities! Whether you choose to explore more of the natural beauty surrounding you or simply relax and enjoy the vibrant local scene, you’re sure to have an unforgettable day in Jackson Hole.

Autumn is just around the corner, and it’s truly a magical season - from a blanket of vibrant hues covering the landscape to a quieter atmosphere. The bison, moose and elk are entering their rut season and wildlife begins active preparation for winter - the perfect time to catch a glimpse of our local residents. It’s one of the best times to visit and , with less traffic on the road and on foot. The crisper weather is ideal for hiking, biking, wildlife watching and simply enjoying the outdoors.

In Yellowstone, wildflowers are an important part of animal diets during spring and early summer. For example, the Spring beauty (Claytonia lanceolata) is a vital source of nutrition for grizzly bears. Spring beauty corms (underground plant stems) contain approximately 77% carbs, 7% protein, and 1% fat, providing much needed energy for bears coming out of hibernation. Let's hear it for !

Over the past few weeks, bears have been making increased appearances in the park, delighting visitors lucky enough to catch glimpses of them. 🐻

(Heads Up!) Weather-permitting, the following roads in Yellowstone will open 8 a.m. Friday, May 10 to public motor vehicle traffic:
◾ South Entrance to West Thumb
◾ West Thumb to Old Faithful (Craig Pass)
◾ West Thumb to Lake Village
◾ Tower-Roosevelt to Tower Fall

The public are asked to:
◽ Watch for quickly changing weather conditions and possible temporary closures due to late spring storms. Many areas of the park are still experiencing winter conditions, and snow and ice may cover sections of road.

◽ Stay informed about up-to-date road conditions and traffic delays due to road improvement projects in Yellowstone:
🚙 Visit go.nps.gov/YELLroads.
🚙 Call (307) 344-2117 for recorded information.
🚙 Receive Yellowstone road alerts on your mobile phone by texting "82190" to 888-777 (an automatic text reply will confirm receipt and provide instructions).

◽ Come prepared. Park services in the spring are limited.

◽ Bison, elk, bears and other wildlife use roads as travel corridors. Roadside snowbanks prevent them from easily moving off the roads. Do not crowd, harass or push wildlife. Be mindful as wildlife endure this difficult time of the year.

◽ Stay at least 100 yards away from bears and wolves, and 25 yards from all other wildlife. It is your responsibility to maintain safe distances at all times.
