The Karité tree or Shea tree, found in the African savannas, can grow up to 50 ft. (15 meters) and live up to 300 years. The name Karité means butter tree in Wolof, one of the Senegalese languages.🇸🇳.

The fruit of Shea, the walnut, is collected and made by women from June to October, in the rainy season, giving rise to Shea butter.

Pure Shea butter is a treasure trove for cosmetics, it is used for skin, hair and nails. Hydrates, nourishes, protects from the sun and wind, and has regenerative, healing and anti-inflammatory properties.
It also has culinary use in African gastronomy, for frying or making sauces.🔥☝🏾
