10 Year Anniversary - History of the Barn

At the heart of the Appalachian countryside, the Red Barn Convention Center greets travelers on the Appalachian Highway to rural Adams County, Ohio, home to great Native American earthworks’ Serpent Mound, a vibrant and growing Amish community with shops, bakeries, furniture, and craftspeople, beautiful nature preserves, and birthplace of the nation’s Quilt Barn Trail.

The Red Barn Convention Center is perfectly situated just a short hour’s drive from Cincinnati and two hours from Columbus, Huntington, WV, and Lexington, KY. Since opening in the summer of 2010, The Red Barn Convention Center has become southern Ohio’s home to a wide variety of musical events including indoor concerts and festivals throughout the year. Locals recognize the RBCC as the performance home of The Cantrell Family, which owns & operates from start to finish.

The History

As visitor to the Red Barn Convention Center enter the facility, gasps of aw and astonishment can be heard and, it is difficult to envision that just a few years before the Cantrell Family purchased the now known RBCC that the very building was once known as the unfinished abandoned mega-church alongside the Appalachian Highway flapping with strips of weather torn house-wrap and waist high weeds. The dream was to create a family oriented place people of all ages and backgrounds can unite to enjoy concerts, festivals, camping, and so much more in a relaxing environment.
