We took a 5 day break from Italian food after our trip to Italy, but last night, we made gnocchi with my sugar bomb tomato sauce. We put the extra sauce on our Against the Grain pesto pizza tonight. What did you have for dinner?
Sugar Bomb Tomato Sauce
Sauté red pepper flakes and minced garlic in extra virgin olive oil over medium heat, then add two containers of sugar bomb tomatoes that have been cut in half. Once things start to get a little saucy, add sea salt and black pepper, 2T of butter, and fresh and dried basil.

With my husband still in Italy, this girl is back in charge of the kitchen. Last night, we had steak and an arugula & white bean salad for dinner. I sautéed the thin cut strip steaks in extra virgin olive oil and butter with a little bit of red pepper flakes. I seasoned them with sea salt and black pepper while they were cooking. I liked them so much, I made them again for lunch today. My daughters will usually only eat filet because steak is too chewy, but they loved these thin cut strip steaks.

My Facebook group Gluten Free Italy is 7 years old today! We just got back from our 7th trip to Italy and we will be back in December after our Christmas Markets river cruise. Beyond cruises, Disney destinations and Universal, I specialize in custom and group trips to Europe. Italy is my favorite country in the world for gluten free dining, but there are so many other great destinations in Europe for celiac travel. Now that I am home, I am working on my next group trip to Europe, and I can also help you plan your own custom trips.

On our recent trip to Rome, we dined at the Pasta in Corso restaurant near the Pantheon. We wanted to try some new restaurants on this trip, but I am not sure this is one we would return to again.

I had a great lunch on my Delta flight from Rome to Atlanta today. The chicken tikka masala was very good, and I enjoyed my fresh fruit and the mix of cheese, olives, nuts and tomatoes. For my second meal, I was given a pizza and fruit. I was not hungry, so I only ate the fruit.

Our first gelato stop in Florence was at Antica Gelateria Fiorentina, a 100% gluten free gelateria across the street from where we are staying. I highly recommend the persiano with saffron and pistachios.

Our Tuscan Women Cook experience ended tonight with a light meal at Podere La Paolina in Tuscany. All three coarses were delicious, and I appreciated that they made me gluten free gnudi with corn flour. Gnudi are Italian dumplings made with spinach and ricotta. Tomorrow, we head to Florence, one of my favorite cities in Italy for gluten free dining.

When we travel to Europe, we prefer to have our big meal of the day at lunchtime, and have a lighter meal in the evening. In Rome, Voglia di Pizza is a great spot for a light dinner. Their bruschetta with burrata, pesto and tomatoes is incredible, and I love their prosciutto and melon. Voglia di Pizza is certified by the Italian Celiac Association (AIC).
