We plan to attend this awesome event Labor Day weekend Rich Moormann

A historic balloon photo shared by our balloonmeister Roger Clark featuring the crafted with pride balloons flying the American flag at Freedom Weekend Aloft at Donelson Center in Greenville. The event was started by local balloonist and was at one time the second largest balloon event in the United States. Roger his brother Mike and his late father Duane flew these balloons promoting Made in the USA. FWA was held at Donelson Center in Greenville until 1998, then it moved to Anderson due to development at the Donelson Center. The event moved to Simpsonville in 2007 and went bankrupt in 2014. It was a sad end to what was at one time a first class event. The Hot Air Affair Rising Above Cancer was founded in 2018 by an enthusiastic group of volunteers and the Cancer Association of Anderson to continue the legacy of hot air ballooning in the upstate of SC, and give back to the Anderson Community. We strive to bring you a fantastic event while rasing money and awareness for the Cancer Association of Anderson . This event is a one of a kind event in the upstate. One of the primary focuses of the event is to give a select number of Anderson County Cancer patients the chance to take a balloon ride ,either tether or free flight. This allows them a bright moment and a break from what is often a rough time during treatments. The 2024 Hot Air Affair Rising Above Cancer will be held August 30-September 2 2024. Join us as we rise above cancer!!
