Annie & Hannah are our Crafted Escapes in-house Africa specialists. They had a chance to travel to South Africa together last year with one of our incredible partners there.

We love planning African safari trips. It is a bucket list activity for many of our clients. However, the travel over there, the packing lists, the internal logistics of a trip can get quite complicated. That’s where we step in. We are able to help arrange all of the internal pieces like smaller planes to Bush camps, helicopters to islands, or overland transfers. We can assist with packing lists, country fact sheets to help you prep, and we present a seamless digital itinerary at the end of it all.

East and South Africa are quite different- as are each park or concession in those countries. They offer such different game viewing experiences, and accommodation options like tented camps, luxury lodges, mobile camps, private homes, etc. Depending on the time of year, how long you want to be on Safari, budget and your style preferences we’re able to match you with the best country & properties.

Vacations we recommend booking ~ one year in advance: dude ranches.

Some ranches only open their summer rates after offering them to returning guests first, so you’ll may have to wait until the fall.

We just booked Lone Mountain Ranch for a multi-generational family next summer. It’s located in Big Sky, Montana about 1 hour from the western entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

We and are big fans of their flexibility. Most ranches require a 5-7 night minimum or have lots of add on pricing for certain activities. Lone Mountain only requires 3 nights and we have access to a great special for our clients that is inclusive of all meals, a guided tour of Yellowstone National Park, horseback riding, archery, canoeing, paddle boarding, yoga, line dancing, kids clubs, an official in-house rodeo, airport transfers & more!

Crafted Escapes travel advisor Hannah Stanco recently returned from Ireland where she, her husbands and their 1 year old son traveled around for a highlights tour of Ireland.

They started off spending time with Hannah’s family in Northern Ireland, spent some time doing all the fun activities at , ate their way around Galway on a food tour, visited the Cliffs of Moher (even though the cliffs were in the fog - bad weather happens to travel advisors also!), drove both the ring of Kerry and the Di**le peninsula and then finished in Dublin for some shopping and sightseeing.

International Family Travel Day was yesterday, and while we may have missed it, we do celebrate it daily at Crafted Escapes. We are all family travel specialists.

We know which rooms connect, and which suites will fit your whole family. We know if the pack-and/play & diaper pail will be there on arrival. We’ve traveled with all the gear, and can help make recommendations as needed! We know if Kids Club is included, what age it starts, and if it’s engaging and fun. We know which resorts offer villas/ residences on site so you can have a kitchen/ sink/ washer dryer, but still enjoy the amenities of a resort.

We can tell you about trips other families with kids similar ages have taken. We’ll chat about the activities they did and the hotels where they stayed so you can rest assured that the kids did not get bored and the babies were happy.

🏖️ Our recommendations for 0-5 year olds are mostly beaches with a nonstop flight if possible:

From newborns to preschoolers we find it’s easiest to fly and flop. With all that gear you’re likely toting at a young age, it’s best to head to the beach. 5 is the age *most * kids are allowed in the kids club (some exceptions + almost all resorts will have babysitters + baby gear for you to borrow). Nothing is off limits and we’ve sent many a little jetsetter to European capitals to explore, it’s more about the parents’ preferences.

Meet Jessica Drew Palles! She’s joining our team from Charlotte, NC where she lives with her husband and sweet 1-year-old daughter.

Her love of travel started around 18 when she took two family trips abroad. From there, she studied abroad twice while at the University of Georgia, and interned at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London twice throughout her studies.

brings us to an Umbrian castle lovingly restored by Italian nobility: Castello di Reschio.

Hotel Castello di Reschio is a luxurious retreat nestled in the heart of the Umbrian countryside in Italy, about 1.5 hours from Florence, on the border of Tuscany. This stunning hotel is part of the larger Reschio Estate, a sprawling 2,700-acre property that encompasses rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, and dense forests. The estate dates back to the 11th century and has been meticulously restored to its former glory.

🐎 The castle dates back to medieval times, but the restoration of the 8 on-site villas + 32-room hotel is a family project of the Bolzas. In fact, on the estate you can find the father’s 40 purebred Spanish horses in the stables or pick at your own furniture. The son Benedict has his own architecture firm to build custom pieces and design all the rooms and villas. They source oil painting, antique furniture that you can purchase while you’re there. A true interior designers dream!

🏰 Beyond the castle walls, the Reschio Estate offers a wealth of activities for guests to enjoy, including horseback riding, hiking, truffle hunting, mountain biking, and cooking classes. Megan lives in Carmel Valley, CA with her husband, 2 sons, and their lovable mini Aussie pup. Her passion for travel was ignited when she took her first steps off the plane in Italy as a young girl.She was completely enamored with the golden fields of sunflowers, ancient cobblestone villages, and all the gelato she could eat!
