State Auto, Winter Park - An Orange Ave. Landmark Since 1946 The State Auto Body is one of Winter Park's oldest garage buildings that is being turned into an innovative retail complex that will be completed in 2016!

Since 1946, the State Auto Body Building has been an Orange Avenue landmark in beautiful Winter Park, Florida. Once a place to mend dented fenders and twisted bumpers, the State Auto Building will serve the area as a destination for retail, leisure and luxury services. A Brief History: In the mid-20th Century, Central Florida saw a period of rapid growth and prosperity as military families planted

their post-war roots near their familiar bases and, for tens of thousands of northerners, air conditioning transformed Winter Park, Orlando and the surrounding towns from a Winter getaway to a year-round home. Built by an engineer and Winter Park Commissioner in 1946, State Auto Body was a state of the art, full-service body shop devoted to mending mangled metal. After the founder's death in the 1970s, a new owner expanded the business and transformed it into one of the most respected and highest quality repair and restoration shops in Florida. As the once sleepy city of Winter Park evolved into a bustling population center, industrial properties and buildings along arterial streets such as Orange Avenue were bulldozed to make way for office buildings, restaurants, medical plazas and shopping. By 2015, only a handful of structures remained that still harkened back to a time when quality mattered and concrete, steel, glass blocks and cedar were the main ingredients in architecture that was designed to last a lifetime. By paying reverence to the past and embracing the present, the new owners of the State Auto Body building on Orange Avenue in Winter Park are poised to enter the future in style as they renovate this local landmark and historical treasure.
