If you missed Tuesday's meeting, here's a recap:

1) Captain Harley Goodman gave a great presentation. Harley has joined Thin Blue Line Fishing Charters out of Chicago. A video of his presentation has been posted on the Members Only page.

2) It's time to renew your membership! If your renewal is received by January 31st, you will be entered into a drawing to receive a Lake Michigan Angler gift certificate.

3) For any new members, we will again be having a new members outing on May 18th (weather permitting). This is one of our most fun events for the year. New members will be invited to join one of our experienced members on their boat. At that time of year, the cohos are usually cooperative and provide plenty of action. A lunch will follow.

4) We plan to start the February general meeting a half hour earlier at 7pm. We know some of you would like to start the meeting even earlier than that. However, the board of directors do meet before the the general meeting, and we do need adequate time to discuss club business before the start of the general meeting.

5) We will have a booth at the Schaumburg Sport Show, January 23rd-26th. Please stop by if you are attending the show.

6) The Swap Meet is February 15th at the River Park Moose Lodge, 8601 W Fullerton Ave, River Grove, IL. Exhibitor tables cost $25 for members, and $40 for non-members. If you are interested in getting a table, please send an email to [email protected].

7) We need about a dozen more volunteers for the fin clip down at the Jake Wolf Hatchery in Topeka IL, on March 17th. This is a really neat event where you can get a behind the scenes look at our DNR in action. We will be fin clipping a new strain of brown trout. You do not need to be a member to participate in this. The club does pay for your hotel room if you stay overnight the night before, and reimburses gas expenses up to a certain amount. Breakfast and lunch are provided. If you are interested, please send an email to [email protected].

We hope all of you have a merry Christmas and a wonderful new year

For those who missed it, here is a quick recap of our December meeting.
1) Thank you everyone who attended and helped to stuff envelopes for membership renewals. You made quick work of this big task. When you receive your renewal, it would be a great help to the club to renew quickly to avoid further time, cost and effort sending a second renewal notice.
2) Tony Boshold and Mike Zacharias have joined the board, filling the two vacancies. Thank you Tony, Mike and all our board members who help to make this a great club. Attached is a pic of your 2025 board members.
3) We will be attending the Schaumburg Sport Show, January 23-26th.
4) The Swap Meet will be February 15, 2025 at the River Park Moose Lodge (same as last year).
5) The Fin Clip will be March 17th. Instead of cohos, this year we will be clipping a large number of a new strain of brown trout. We are looking for about 45 volunteers.

More detailed information for all our events will be included with the mailed renewals, and updated on the website and pages.

Happy holidays everyone.

We had a great meeting last night. Here is a quick summary in case you missed it.
1) First, THANK YOU to everyone who brought food items for donation to the food pantry. The club will be donating those food items with turkeys, before Thanksgiving.
2) We reached our goal of 400 members for the year. It's been great to see the membership grow this past year. Looking forward to a bigger and better 2025.
3) We held our club elections. All officers and board members were re-elected without opposition. We also found a couple people who are interested in filling the two vacant board member positions. We hope to finalize that and make an announcement in the next couple of months.
4) Our top three club tournament captains gave the presentation last night. The video of that is on the Salmon Unlimited Members Only page. If you are going through salmon fishing withdrawal this winter, the Members Only page has a bunch of videos to watch. A lot of great information there.
5) Our December 10th meeting will be a holiday/pizza party. At that meeting we will be stuffing envelopes for membership renewals that will be mailed out next month.

Thank you all for your support of the club. Our members make this a great organization.

A few announcements following last night's general meeting.

1) Tim and Martha Rumlow gave a great presentation. A video of that is now available on the Members Only page.

2) The captains of the top three club tournament boats will be giving presentations at our November meeting. The meeting is Tuesday November 12th at T-Woods in Wood Dale.

3) We will also be holding our annual board member elections at the next meeting. There are two openings on the board. If you are interested in joining the board, please FB message Jim Stepp or Brian Hameder so we can get you on the ballot.

4) As part of our charitable giving, before Thanksgiving we would like to give turkeys to at least two food banks in Waukegan and Winthrop Harbor. If you would like to contribute to this donation, you can do so in three ways. First, you may donate through our website. If you do that, please FB message Jim or Brian, or send an email to [email protected], to let us know of the donation. There is no memo to indicate the purpose of the donation through the website. Second, mail a check to 321 West Railroad, Bartlett, IL 60103. Third, bring a check or cash to the November meeting. Checks should be made payable to Salmon Unlimited Conservation and Charitable Trust.

5) We are still five memberships away from 400 members. We will be giving away FREE memberships to get to that goal, but you need to sign-up in person at the next meeting. Those receiving the free memberships will be eligible for our new members outing next year, if they renew their membership. They will also gain access to the Members Only page which has all the meeting speaker and tournament winner videos from this past year. They will be sent the monthly newsletter, and we can add you to our discount program at West Marine.

6) We had every intention of hosting a Veterans outing last year, but just did not have anyone willing to take on the responsibility of organizing such an event. If you are interested in organizing or being a part of a Veterans outing next year, please let Jim or Brian know.

It's been a great year. Than you all for your support and participation!

At last count, we are at 393 members. With no major events or expenses for the rest of the year, we are offering seven free memberships to get us to 400 members. Those new members will get access to the members only page, receive the monthly newsletter, and be eligible for next year’s new member outing if they renew their membership next year. To get a free membership, you need to sign up in person at a monthly meeting. Our next meeting is Tuesday, October 8th at 7:30pm, at T-Woods in Wood Dale.
