It’s always bittersweet at this time of year when our drivers slowly begin to move back to school, but we’re lucky to have the staff we do so we can continue taking out great tours all the way to mid-November (weather permitting)! 😃

Today, June 6th, marks the 80th anniversary of the biggest amphibious invasion the world has ever seen, when Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, in an effort to pe*****te the defenses of Germany’s “Fortress Europe.” On that day, 2,000 DUKWs (“ducks”) constantly ferried troops and supplies from ship to shore — their performance surpassed only by the brave soldiers, sailors and paratroopers of the invasion force. We honor that event and the veterans - both past and present - who serve our country, and we’re proud to commemorate that day with five of our ducks: Sword Beach, Juno Beach, Gold Beach, Utah Beach and Omaha Beach — named for the five invasion zones on the French coast. To the men and women of our armed forces — thank you for your service!

Today, July 9th, marks the anniversary of the invasion of Sicily – the first amphibious attack on Hitler and Mussolini‘s “Fortress Europe” in World War II. It was the first time DUKWs saw action, and their performance was exemplary. The allied invasion forces, led by Generals Patton and Montgomery, pressed on across the island, culminating in the capture of the city of Palermo. Our duck Palermo, named in honor of the achievement, makes a much more peaceful and pleasant amphibious landing, climbing out of Dell Creek enroute to Lake Delton. To experience a bit of history along with plenty of Fun! Adventure! On land and water! Ride the Ducks today!
