We offer the newest fleet of flight training and rental aircraft in central Wisconsin. We have a brand new 2012 Cessna Skycatcher "Light Sport" aircraft and a 2000 Cessna 172 Skyhawk. We also provide aircraft charter in a twin-engine, 6 person Cessna 310R. We are one of only two Cessna Pilot Centers in Wisconsin.

We recently did a free “systems” session in concurrence with the top cowl being off for an oil change. It was well attended so we will try to do another one on a different subject. What would you like to see next or in future sessions?

An interesting side note is that three of the things that discussed ironically happened within the next 10 days. We had a false low oil pressure indication due to a bad connection, a P-lead came off of a magneto leaving it “hot” (active) after shutdown, and we unfortunately had someone engage the starter into a running engine. A good pilot is always learning!

Congratulations to Jeremy Vetrone on earning his Private Pilot certificate today in the Skycatcher. We had to take two pictures after the checkride since the result had not yet been revealed. Bribing the examiner with his frequently ordered size AND flavor from Caribou Coffee sitting on the table when he arrived did not hurt either. (An example of some good ADM to start the test). Jeremy plans to pursue a professional pilot career. Great Job Jeremy!

You can’t live in the Wisconsin Rapids area without a Raider Card. The FREE pizza from Domino’s alone covers the mere $10 cost of the card and the rest of the dincounts and BOGO’s are good for a year. Supplies are limited. If you want one, let me know. I can get you one!

Congratulations to Isaac Galuk on his First Solo Flight! Isaac has flown powered parachutes alone but this was his first time with an airplane completing the traditional 3 solo take offs and landings. Great job Isaac!

Congratulations to Jack Wiedmeyer on receiving his Private Pilot certificate. Jack is a Ray Scholarship winner from EAA and the local EAA Chapter 706. He studied hard and completed the certificate in just over two months from start to finish. Now he is off to Purdue to study Aviation Management. Great job Jack and good luck going forward.

Did your WR fireworks get rained on? Come to Lake Sherwood Independence Day Celebration today for Shermalot’s 3001: A Space Odysski Ski show, live music, food, and fireworks. Ski show starts at 4:30 with Junior Show, 5:00 Flag Presentation, and 5:30 main show. Fireworks to follow at dusk. Ski you there!

Pancakes in the morning and the Shermalot Water Ski Show in the evening

EAA Chapter 706's Community Pancake Breakfast is a "go" for this Saturday, rain or shine, since it is held inside the large municipal hangar at the airport. If you'd like to get the kids out of the house and have some fun, come to the airport!
