The game has its moments. When you’ve done it for as long as I have (over two decades) you find comfort in the familiar. Because of the pandemic, I haven’t done a live trade show in two years, but it feels like a homecoming. It’s a grind to some...especially when the dealer traffic isn’t there, and it costs more to do less, but I savor it all. The travel: roaming America and seeing it through the eyes of salt of the earth tackle shop and marine dealers. The friendships from both the fraternity of fellow Reps, dealers & distributor families. The ingenuity of creating a marketing strategy, attractive show booth layout and winning sales pitch. It’s a performance. You’re selling yourself almost as much as any given product, and anybody who knows me knows I try to give a good show. That’s why this game works for Darren. Now THAT...makes sense.
