SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY is on New Orleans 🕯
New Orleans is probably my favorite place I’ve been so far. The food, the music, the vibe, the history - it’s all incredible.
🎺 there is live music everywhere you turn in New Orleans but the most famous place is probably Frenchmen Street! Take a stroll down Frenchmen for a night and experience all of the live music in and out of the venues!
🍛 the FOOD in New Orleans cannot be beat. From Gumbo, to Jambalaya, Crawfish, Po Boys, Muffalettas, Beignets - the list goes on for what foods NOLA is famous for. I recommend trying as much as you can and doing your own tour!
🍹 the cocktails in New Orleans are to die for. I recommend going to the Sazerac house for a free tasting of a NOLA made liquor and doing a ’drink the rainbow’ challenge to try different famous drinks at different places. (For Example: green- hand gr***de at Tropical Isle, red- hurricane at Pat O’Brien’s, purple- Voodoo Daiquiri at Jean Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop)
🚏Walk around the French quarter. Explore Jackson Square and check out the beautiful buildings and architecture. Who knows what you might find!
🪦Tour a Cemetery. New Orleans cemeteries are famous due to the unique way they bury their dead, in above ground cemeteries and mausoleums. These cemeteries are said to be extremely haunted (duh) and house a few famous graves and are the sight of countless movie and tv scenes.
🌃 Take a walk down bourbon street. The most famous street in New Orleans (maybe Louisiana altogether) is home to countless shops, restaurants and bars. I recommend going during the day or close to sunset because it won’t be as busy but going at night is the true Bouron Street experience! You can also find tons of souvenir shops on Bourbon.
🐊 Take an airboat tour - this was something I didn’t know I would like so much! I recommend getting out of the French quarter a day and going through Airboat Adventures in Lafitte, LA. You take a shuttle bus to the swamp, have a daiquiri and spend a few hours riding an airboat around and spending time with the gators and whatever else you might see.
👻 New Orleans is full of lore of ghosts, witches, vampires, voodoo, and serial killers. If this is what you’re into (like me) I highly recommend taking the time to do a tour, go to a voodoo shop, make a stop in the vampyre boutique and restaurant and go to the museum of death (not for the faint of heart).
🎥 Check out some spots from your favorite movies and shows! NOLA was the sight of scenes from Interview with a Vampire, American Horror Story, The Originals and so many more! I recommend finding spots from your favorite movies and shows and checking them out.
New Orleans is the coolest and most unique place I’ve ever been and I cannot recommend it enough.
“Only New Orleans is real, the rest is done with mirrors.”
I also include a detailed list of recommendations to clients if they want to any place that I’ve been - and I have a lot to say about New Orleans! Book a trip with me to the Big Easy! 🎺🕯🍛🍹
