Valley Forge was the winter encampment of the Continental Army, lead by George Washington during the American Revolutionary War. Valley Forge was a naturally defensible plateau where the army could train and recoup from the year’s battles, and the wet and cold winter weather, muddy and impassable roads, and scant supplies made major battles less likely.

Music legend Johnny Cash is the first musician honored to have his likeness represented in the U.S. Capitol.

The 8 foot-tall bronze statue depicts the country singer as an embodiment of the America spirit. In the Capitol’s National Statuary Hall Collection, each state may donate two statues to represent their most notable residents. The statue of Johnny Cash joins Daisy Bates in representing their home state of Arkansas.

Never defeated in battle, USS Constitution remains a symbol of the honor, courage, and commitment of America’s sailors.

"Old Ironsides" is the oldest commissioned warship still afloat. Constructed in Boston in 1797, she was one of the United States Navy's first men-of-war. Her exploits during the War of 1812 made her legendary.

Today she is the oldest ship on active duty with the U.S. Navy, a floating museum and parade ship.

On April 12, 2016, President Barack Obama designated Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument. This historic home has served as headquarters of the National Woman's Party since 1929 and was the epicenter of the struggle for women's suffrage and rights. Alice Paul and the National Woman's Party were integral in helping secure passage of the 19th Amendment.
