Join the fight! Help protect the people of Worth and Lucas Berg by preventing the destruction of this natural site by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Visit www.lucasberg.shutterfly.com and join our campaign.The Life Safety Committee This is a local wetland and gem of the Southwest side. We need your help to prevent the USACE from destroying the natural ecosystem that has evolved from a mined out gravel pit. In the 1980's they planned on placing dredged material from the Chicago area waterways here. That was a mistake then and is certainly a terrible reality now. Help us show public interest in protecting this beautiful site.

What a great clean up in our town and across Chicagoland! Friend’s of the Chicago River do it right! Our crew rocked today making a difference and even saved a little friend! She got caught in fishing wire that was left on site. TBD on her recovery but we are hopeful!

A big thank you to our clean up crew today! Over 60 Volunteers came out for Friends of the Chicago river’s Chicago River day clean up event! Special thanks to the Maddox family Co site Captains, Worth Park District and Wendella boats for supplying the Dunkin’!

I'm asking all my dear friends in town to vote YES on the ballot for our great Park District on Tuesday. We have a referendum on that ballot that will bring much needed finances to our parks and provide some tangable results in our community including the potentail to finally end the age old battle for Lucas berg! Good news all! We are meeting with MWRD tomorrow to discuss the possibility of Lucas Berg to be eventually open to our citizens to experiance, steward and enjoy. Please send your prayers and well wishes as we try to close a half century battle to OPEN this site to the public for recreation.

Hello Lucas Berg fans!
Good news… as you know our mission for the past half century has been to open this land to the public but the MWRD is charged with selling it to the highest bidder. Nobody has the 6 million they are asking for. Not even our small park district. We are hoping the MWRD will transfer the property to the forest preserve district as part of thier open lands acquisition plan. Can you imagine? More updates to follow! Please comment and post any pics you have of the amazing flora and fauna you have seen at this wonderful gem of the South side!
