Our favorite restaurant in Newport. So many good dishes.

Founder Laura Anderson tells the story behind Local Ocean's iconic Fish & Chips:
"Growing up in a fishing family, we ate a lot of fish - but never deep fried! So, when I opened the restaurant, I wanted to keep the Fish & Chips simple - egg washed, breaded and grilled, like my mom used to make it (she would coat it with breadcrumbs, ground up Ritz crackers or even corn flakes!) Chefs Bruce Jackson and Charlie Branford decided buttermilk and panko were essential in this recipe and our Grilled Fish & Chips was born."

Even after 18 years, Chef Enrique Sanchez continues our distinctive rendition of Fish & Chips continues to reign as the most beloved dish on our menu, and it's no surprise that halibut takes the lead as the favored fish variety. This enduring popularity proves that simplicity often triumphs: a meticulously seasoned fillet, a two-ingredient egg wash, and a flawless panko coating, expertly grilled on the stovetop.

Fun updates to Round Rock House. This trip we had new kitchen countertops installed. Recently a new couch was delivered. Our first time seeing and seating on it. I’m pleased with the changes and hope all enjoy. Thank you renters for staying at RRH!!
