Yarmouth will close at 2.30p today and the State Visitor Information section of the building is closed tomorrow. The restrooms are open 24 hours. We will be open on Thursday our regular hours from 9a to 5.30p. Travel Safely.

The Castine Historical Society preserves local history and hosts permanent and temporary
exhibitions as well as lectures, educational events, and town walking tours. The Historical
Society’s exhibitions are closed for the 2024 season. The Grindle House offices, collection facility,
and research library located at 13 School Street, Castine are open year-round by appointment. Maine Tourism Association website

Maine Apple Sunday is this Sunday September 15th.
The 23rd annual Maine Apple Sunday, organized by the Maine State Pomological Society, will be held on September 15, 2024, to kick off the peak of our state’s apple harvest. Be sure to visit participating orchards throughout the state as the beautiful autumn season in Maine is nearly upon us.
Orchards will open their doors for apple picking and other activities and you can be sure apples and a variety of apple products will be offered to sample and to purchase.

Several Real Maine member orchards will be participating in Maine Apple Sunday this year. For a full list, go to www.maineapples.org/events/

Open Lighthouse Day . September 14th This popular event, sponsored by the United States Coast Guard, the Maine Office of Tourism and the American Lighthouse Foundation, attracts between 15,000 to 18,000 visitors each year and offers the general public the rare opportunity to climb and learn about more than a dozen historic Maine lights.
