June 6, 1944. 80 years since the D-Day invasion at Normandy! Commemorations were conducted on the beaches of Normandy today. Below are some links to some of the activities and photographs of the day, as well as actual recounting of the events that day 80 years ago.
My river cruise back in March ignited gratitude in my soul for the incredible valor those men mustered up to defeat the reign of Na**sm in Europe. Nothing in my US life has ever occurred that so many people died for the sake of freedom. Visiting Arnham in the Netherlands opened up my eyes to the tragedy of what occurred in those terrible years. I pray we don’t forget what those have gone before us have sacrificed!
The little knowledge I gained in visiting places that were bombed out by the Germans in the Netherlands and Belgium left me with a desire to know more. I sincerely would like to someday visit Normandy in France to expand my appreciation for the life that I was given by these men who died!
