Kevin and Jon were back for their annual winter trip on the Niagara. The weather was good and the fish cooperated. Both guys had the Niagara trout slam ( steelhead, brown, laker), both guys caught walleye and they split a musky/pike double!! People ask all the time...Why do you go out there when it's this cold? Well...this is why! It can be some of the best action of the season. The net got frozen again today...

STEELHEAD fishing on the Niagara River in the winter usually doesn't come without challenges. We have been spoiled for the last few years with mild above average winter temperatures. This year it's back to the cold and back to challenges of ICE. Launching the boat, driving on the water, guides icing, electric motor icing...you get the picture. Well today it was 10 degrees when we launched the boat and thanks to a stiff 15kt north wind the wind chill was below zero all day! The water temp was 31.7 (liquid ice). Well...If you want to catch Steelhead these are PERFECT conditions. Johnathan and Smokey were here from West Virginia for the last two days and they were greeted with 35 degrees and rain yesterday and Arctic conditions today. These guys fought the conditions and were greeted with some of the best action you could ask for! Steelhead, walleye, brown trout and even a big Laker came to the net. There are a lot of fish in in the river system this year. Let's get the net frozen...

Had a cold start to the day today. 19deg with a wind chill of 9. Then a 5 mile run to the bar at 30 mph. Good thing the fish were hungry! They kept us busy and the action warmed everyone up. Big fish Joe and his dad doubled up on nice brown trout on the first drift. Had a great day with these guys.

Finally got back out on the water after a lot wind and dirty water the last few weeks. My guys wanted to fish the bar so we headed down river with Yakima Bait Company Mag Lips and shiners to see if the fish would cooperate. The fish were hungry and willing to bite! We caught Lake Trout, Brown Trout and a walleye. If you want to get out on the river or bar now is the time.

Had a great day yesterday with Ryan on the lower Niagara River. The water gained a lot of color overnight. We started off the day with beads and eggs with no success. After a few hours we switched over to Yakima Bait Company Mag Lips and we started getting bites right away. Greenhorn,Short work and Green Machine all took fish. 5 different species came to the boat in the second half of the day. We didn't take a picture of the Sheephead. The bite will just keep getting better daily now. Let's get the net wet..

Tonight we had the pleasure of presenting a check to our 2024 benefactor of Reelin for a cure —
We Can Row!!

This year was our largest donation yet - in 9 years other than the year we did not fish which was ONLY last year 2023.

$13,778.06 was our 2024 donation and we cannot be happier. Woohoo!!!

Thank you to all of our Captains, Participants, Volunteers and Sponsors. We could not continue year after year doing what we do and raising the money we do without all of you!

We Can Row - thanks for joining us and fishing the event. Always fun getting into the action. Hope this was beyond your wildest expectations.

Fun fact as we move into our 10 year annual Reelin for a cure.
In 9 years. Which equates to 36 hours of fundraising for our benefactors.
Reelin has donated over $100,000 cash to multiple benefactors to help fight against all women’s cancers.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
We are all blessed because of all of you. ❤️

See you in 2025.
Friday August 15th.
Get your dates off work, get your captain and we will see you all at our milestone 10 year Annual — Reelin for a cure!
