We had a blast at the Chattahoochee Nature Center Outdoors skills day! They had tons of folks and we all learned how to make friction fire, different cooking equipment, and shelters. What an awesome day!

So this weekend I got out and tested my new Firebox Nano Stove. When you are in the field it is always nice to be able to heat water add coffee and make mud. Course if you know me you know I do love a good cup of mud. This stove did very well and allows me to not only use organic matter to heat things but also my Trangia alcohol stove, making it a very flexible and light weight carry option. Staying hydrated is so important. It surprised me with the heat it put off. The other picture is my pocket rocket by MSR. Love this little cooker, only problem is that you have to have fuel cell of butane to heat things. What stove do any of you use when you GET OUT THERE?

Well we are excited to be working with the Ga Conservancy and specifically Ms. Laura Buckmaster, in the Cumberland Island adventure. We will be organizing several groups to camp and work on the island over next few months. After our conversation today, Ms. Laura will be getting several questions answered, like when we can volunteer, who would need to come to which weekend, will it be kid friendly, and what needs doing. Just wanted to let everyone know that answers are coming soon. WCC is looking at hosting possibly three to four work groups on the island. SO everyone start thinking about what you could do to help and begin to save the dates, the first part of November till January. WCC knows that Thanksgiving and Christmas are in there for time off and family. As soon as we know more we promise to let you know. If you have more questions or thoughts feel free to contact us.
BTW thanks to all that voted on the REI site, Every Trail Matters, that helped raise over 56k for this special work on Cumberland Island. Now GET OUT THERE!!
