Visiting another country is never complete without experience it’s art and music! Sure we’ve all heard mariachi music in our local Mexican restaurant, but there is something so special to see it performed with pride in its place of origin! For Mexico, that is of course Mariachi music! More specifically this unique type of music originated in the state of Jalisco. So when you go to Puerto Vallarta, I cannot stress enough finding a way to see this type of music performed live by locals who know and love it. And if it’s accompanied by local folk dances- it’s all the better! While I truly love so many things on Virgin Voyages, I personally this this one item is a total miss. The Net is a huge hammock on the 16th deck of the Virgin cruise ships that allow passengers to sit and look straight down to the ocean below as you sail. I was super excited to give this fascinating amenity a try, but actually sitting on The Net was not pleasurable at all! Sure the view was amazing (if heights don’t freak you out), but the huge plastic connectors keeping the net together were terrible to walk or lay down on. So for me personally, this item is a major miss and skip. Have you tried The Net? 🎶 Music Monday🎶 Live music is an amazing way to immerse yourself in the local culture while traveling! There’s just something so fun about visiting a zoo!Marveling at all the amazing animals always makes me feel like a child again! So if I can visit a zoo for free- I’m in! Since the 1868, the Lincoln Park Zoo has been helping the people of Chicago better understand the wildlife around them. And it’s the only privately managed zoo to do so for FREE in the country! I love that you can spend as much or as little time in the zoo without feeling like you have to get your money’s worth! Just wander as much as you like before heading on to your next adventure in the city! I personally always try to make a donation to the zoo when I go just so that others who may not be able to can still learn and enjoy the beautiful animals! This place has alum such as Steve Carrell, Amy Phoehler, Bill Murray, Mike Myers, and so many more! With multiple hilarious shows on every night of the week, you’re sure to be able to fit one into your visit easily! Plus they even host comedy-filled informational walking tours of the surrounding Chicago neighborhood too! This was my third show at The Second City, and every time, I am surprised by the originality of each show! And I personally always love their interactive improv bits! Truly a must-see in Chicago! ☘️Let’s talk Quay Street in Galway!☘️ Galway is a university town full of music, food, and fun, but the main attraction to me is Quay Street! This street is off limits to cars but wide enough for pedestrians to explore all its many attractions! Here are my 3 reasons to visit Quay Street! 1️⃣ Shopping There are amazing shops lining this Main Street. From Gaelic jewelers to locally sourced wool hats and scarfs, this is a souvenir Mecca! 2️⃣ Eating Ireland is not usually known for its cuisine, but I had some of my best meals in Galway! 🛳️ Did you know that the pool of your Virgin Voyages ship doubles as dance floor?!?💃🏼 To be honest, when I first was looking at the pool on the ship I didn’t understand why so much of it was shallow. But then we experience Scarlet Night on the ship! Scarlet Night is kind of the equivalent to the formal night on typical cruise ships, but instead of wearing your fanciest clothing, you wear your best “scarlet” outfit to celebrate!
